One more fucking thing. If Brandon Wood is not called up to the majors to be our full-time SS (should be here) or 3B (sorry, Figgins), then we mind as well trade his potential. He's been tearing up the minor league and is MLB ready. The only reason he as struggled so far is because every time he gets called up, he is sent right back down. He needs consistent AB's. Bring him up, guys. He's ready for the big league and could really jump start our offense. Wood >>>>>> Maicer Izturis >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Erik Aybar.
That's some suckage right there. I do like Nady. Oh well, as long as Swisher keeps swinging his bat the way he's been, he'll fill in perfectly fine. Also could free a spot up for Melky if Girardi decides to go that way.
I think he can turn it around. He's still a young guy (25 I think) and has gobs of potential. At worst, he might not be a great offensive player, but he's still the best defensive OF we have. The kid has an absolute cannon for an arm, probably top 5 in the MLB.
12-2 over the Twins. Adam Lind is killin it, 372. avg, 12 RBIs. And the Jays are the only team hitting over .300 as a team in the Majors. Fuck if the pitching holds up we are going to be in the race at the end.
You're right, you will be in the race, and you'll be winning it. The race for 4th place in the AL East that is.
We need optimism, If we were in the Central, we'd win the division all the time. With the teams we have had, it becomes depressing because they can be soo good.
And your point is? When you live in Iowa, you don't really have much for options. To my defense, I was raised a Cowboys fan, and the Yankees (along with the McGwire vs. Sosa HR race) was the reason why I started watching baseball. As for the Lakers, I've been a fan since I started watching basketball. I grew up liking them and the Bulls.
Keep thinking that. The Cowboys made a huge addition by subtraction move by getting rid of TO, and that should help them tremendously this year. But hey, I guess we can't all be so blessed to be in a division where we can go 8-8 and make the playoffs.
Rivers > Romo. Rivers doesn't choke. Chargers > Cowboys. We've been out of the 1st round in the playoffs two years in a row now. :]
Touche. Well, at least on the last part. Obviously my bias will say Romo is better (though logic will than butt in and remind how many playoff games Romo has won and how "amazing" he's been in December) and that the 'Boys are better than the Chargers (which I do genuinely believe). Though I think this will be the year the Cowboys (and Romo) get over that hump. That team is far too talented to continue to fail in the playoffs. Though one thing that would help immensely is if that supposedly great offensive line of ours blocked, and that supposedly great defense of ours actually played some decent defense.
We'll see about that this year. I honestly don't think the Boys are anything special right now. I don't think having Roy Williams as your #1 WR is going to be an upgrade over TO. Roy proved with the Lions' organization (Granted it was the Lions) that he can be a headache. Owens was and will always be a headache for whatever team he is on, but I don't think Garrett utilized him properly this year. We'll see. Football can't come soon enough.
I don't see how Garrett misused TO. His main use to any team will be his deep threat ability, and Garrett certainly took advantage of that. The main thing Garrett needs to learn how to do is call run plays. He's got a trio of talented running backs to work with when they're all healthy, so there isn't a need to call 75% pass plays this season. As for Roy, I agree that the jury is still out on him, but he's proven he can get it done. If he can produce with Jon Kitna as a QB, he can do it with Romo. Plus, he's got the physical tools to be a great WR, the only thing he lacks is the breakaway speed that Owens had. He's got better hands and he's a better route runner too. Plus, he shouldn't cause nearly as many problems as Owens did with his personality. I think if the defense actually steps it up this year and plays to their talent level, they have a chance to go the Super Bowl. I honestly think the NFC is as wide open as it's been in years, because I can't see a clear-cut favorite to represent them in the Super Bowl right now.
I almost forgot, Griffey just hit his 400th HR as a Mariner. He's become the first player ever to hit 400+ HR with one team and 200+ with another. I really hope he passes Mays by next year and possibly Ruth is he lasts long enough. 3rd on the all time HR list is damn impressive for someone who missed 200+ games in his prime
