Re: Lakers vs. Jazz Series Thread (Lakers up 2-1) Kobe was missing regular shots for his standards, I don't buy the defense thing. When he posts up like that he usually does so much better in fact. Bynum had 5 fouls according to Yahoo, not sure though.
Re: Lakers vs. Jazz Series Thread (Lakers up 2-1) Stop hating on me just cause I picked the right amount of games in this series.
Re: Lakers vs. Jazz Series Thread (Lakers up 2-1) Yeah I'm pretty sure Drew didn't foul out. Pathetic effort though, give the Jazz all the credit. Hopefully this is the wakeup call we needed though. I've stated all along, since the playoffs started, that I PREFER us be challenged this year. We steamrolled the West last year, and look where that got us? Meanwhile the Celtics went to war, and were battle tested in the Finals. Personally, after what happened last year, I honestly believe rest is overrated. I want us to go to battle, get tested, and enter the Finals playing the best basketball of our lives, after overcoming all our challenges. No easy way out. I want Portland in the 2nd round, time to face our fears and overcome them. Championship teams are not afraid of anybody, they may struggle, but in the end, they will still prevail. So come Finals time, this team better be ready. If we don't make it that far, we don't deserve to be there in the first place. Time to regroup, focus, and start playing for a shit now. No more slow starts, fucking 5-24, pussy defense, pussy fouls, giving up big leads, that was for the REGULAR SEASON. Welcome to the POSTSEASON guys, wake the fuck up. Honestly I'm not surprised Drew has been struggling. I already made a thread earlier predicting this would happen. He's still trying to get adjusted to game speed, doesn't help that he's trying to adjust to game AND playoff speed. He'll get there though, just has to focus like the rest of the team. Kobe has to play smarter, and Pau has to man up. I don't know what the fuck happened today, I don't want to see it again. Lamar just has to do Lamar. He's been great so far, no complaints there. I know I said I wouldn't comment much on the game, but whatever. Those are my thoughts. Disappointing loss, but if we build off it, it's a blessing in disguise. It's the wakeup call and the kick in the ass we need. Let's see how we respond.
Re: Lakers vs. Jazz Series Thread (Lakers up 2-1) I'm with you Lost, time to freaking step it up. If your shot is off defer, if Booze is hot double his ass more; make Korv, Harpring, Brewer, and whatever scrub they have bail them out.
Re: Lakers vs. Jazz Series Thread (Lakers up 2-1) Boozer also had one of the best games of his life, I doubt it ever happens again. Remember, the Celtics didn't look like champions in April, did they? They could barely get past the fucking Hawks. We lost one game, big whup. I predicted we win the series in 5 anyways. It's just the way we lost that bothered me, but then again you could say the same for the Celtics last year. If we play hard, face our obstacles and overcome then, this team will continue to grow and mature. Honestly, the road to the Finals is a journey. We need to be battle tested. Let the Cavs sweep away their opponents every series, doesn't matter. They obviously are not an unbeatable team like the 2001 Lakers, far from it. Let them come in with a false sense of security, like we had last year. We'll see what happens. I'm done rambling but you get my drift. I'm disappointed in HOW we lost, not that we lost. Time for guys to get a wakeup call and say hello to the postseason. The type of shit they're pulling may work in the regular season, not now. Looking forward to how they respond in Game 4.
Re: Lakers vs. Jazz Series Thread (Lakers up 2-1) Yeah, the last 2 fouls he got, TNT's stat thing showed he had 5 fouls then they showed he fouled out but Reggie Miller said he had 5. I was confused and just figured he was gone since he didn't comeback. Home cookin' is sweet for Utah though, where refs let them use their hands on swipes more. I bet Kobe drops 60 Saturday
Re: Lakers vs. Jazz Series Thread (Lakers up 2-1) Well, have to respect your fanhood, props to you J_Ray (are you by any chance related to Ray J, that rapper with the show? :d). Peace and love. So embarrassing tonight, only Lamar deserves any sort of compliment on his overall performance for this game.
Re: Lakers vs. Jazz Series Thread (Lakers up 2-1) Don't sweat it. Lakers didn't deserve a win tonight. Last thing we need is for them to get a false sense of security that they can just "cruise" their way through the postseason and expect to be hoisting up the trophy when it's all said and done. Jazz fought hard and deserved a win. I just wish Okur was playing, that way things would be more fair.
Re: Lakers vs. Jazz Series Thread (Lakers up 2-1) Yeah man, if some calls don't go our way we need to walk it off. Time to get used to what we'll face in the later rounds. No more excuses. :O
Re: Lakers vs. Jazz Series Thread (Lakers up 2-1) You guys sound scared. It is kind of pathetic. What was Phil thinking putting Fish on Williams on that last possession? When I saw that, I knew the game was over. I predicted 5, we'll win in 5.
Re: Lakers vs. Jazz Series Thread (Lakers up 2-1) I'm not scared, I'm annoyed by the way we played, and disappointed.
Re: Lakers vs. Jazz Series Thread (Lakers up 2-1) You didn't expect it? I fully expected a lack luster performance tonight. Game 3 in Utah. Utah is in do or die mode. The writing was on the wall for a let down game, and we got it. Nothing to worry about. What I am worried about is Drew not adapting to playoff ball that well right now. 7 minutes and 5 fouls?
Re: Lakers vs. Jazz Series Thread (Lakers up 2-1) It might just be me but you guys don't really respect Utah as much as you should. Utah is no typical 8th seed, and Boozer finally has his legs back (not to mention he's attacking the hoop again). This was the Utah team predicted to be a 2 or 3 seed, or possibly contending for 1st to start the year. If Boozer had his legs back few weeks ago, Utah would probably be in Mavs position right now albeit. It's not like the Lakers are purposely having meltdowns, Utah always make runs like they have been making b/c Jerry Sloan is great @ lighting firecrackers in his players asses when they fall behind. To tell the truth, this is probably going to be Lakers toughest series until the Finals.
Re: Lakers vs. Jazz Series Thread (Lakers up 2-1) A bit off-topic...Blazer board is now saying how Brandon Roy is better than Kobe and he would be the next MJ in the Triangle offense lol What a joke...
Re: Lakers vs. Jazz Series Thread (Lakers up 2-1) Its not that I don't respect Utah, its I just think we're a lot better than them. If you look through my posts from this year, you'll see I've said that Utah is our biggest threat. I was pissed they ended up with the 8th seed. I just don't think you guys are going to push us past 5, that is all. And the Blazers' fans are homers, just like the Lakers have their homers. But yeah, that thread is just ridiculous.
Re: Lakers vs. Jazz Series Thread (Lakers up 2-1) With Memo out, Lakers are a lot better but somehow Jargon has actually given them decent minutes. He is probably the best player that can match-up against Bynum Utah has available b/c he's a "Grade A" flopper and is a legit 6'11" with the strength to keep Bynum from getting the ball within 3 feet of the hoop EVERY time down. I still have faith in Utah to get it to 7 but the X-Factor is Korver. Utah is one of the best teams in the league when Korver has his stroke going. If you look at a majority of their runs in this series, it has consisted of Korver making a shot or two.
Re: Lakers vs. Jazz Series Thread (Lakers up 2-1) IF the Lakers can't protect their leads, they are going to have problems down the road.
Re: Lakers vs. Jazz Series Thread (Lakers up 2-1) Take it this way guys... Utah was only able to win by 2 pts after a monster game by boozer, a forgettable game by kobe (5-24)and by bynum (5 fouls and 4 pts i think), Ariza didn't show up and the Lakers played bad for 3 quarters (1st, 2nd and 4th). Lakers in 5! But YES, Trench is absolutely right, if we can't protect our lead on the road then we will have trouble especially in the Finals if we face Cleveland bec. they have HCA.
