Blazers-Rockets game still going on. Final posession of the half...ESPN decides to switch it to the Orlando-Philly game EVEN THOUGH ITS ON ESPN2.

So they have it on two channels, while the other game is still on in blank space. What the hell man, people were watching that first game.

    what a bunch of jerks.

"Brandon Roy misses 52-foot three point jumper"

^From ESPN play-by-play on espn.com. I personally am glad that they showed me a pretty godamn entertaining end to a playoff game that I would have otherwised missed than Brandon Roy stealing the ball and heaving a prayer that didn't go in at the half of an 11 point game.

He also made 2 free throws. I would have rather seen that. If you wanted to watch the entertaining end to the playoff game, IT WAS ALREADY ON ESPN2.

Yes but I was watching the game I care more about- Houston/Portland. That being said, I'd rather miss the end of a half in that game and catch a pretty entertaining finish of another game.

Obviously it sucks for you Blazers fans (and Rockets fans I suppose) but ESPN is appealing to fans like me who want to see the end of a tight upset game more than the end of a half of the currently played game. ESPN knows you're gonna watch no matter how shitty the broadcast is. So you have to deal with sitting through whatever they're going to put you through. My shitty team isn't in the playoffs so I like to see all of the exciting things that happen around the league. Obviously its already on ESPN 2 but I appreciate them showing it to me because I would have missed it otherwise.

As a blazer fan, I'm livid. They should have cut into the blazer game at the time out too.

Again, FUCK ESPN for this. I don't give a shit if they are appealing to general fans..play the games you have on the schedule. ESPN2 is just a few channels away, they should have given a heads up.

I agree. That was bullshit. The game was on the other channel, they didn't have to blow off the end of the first half. They could have put a split-screen on, if anything.

I don't know about you guys, but I'm not constantly checking scores of other games while watching a game. I would have had no idea that the Philly-Orlando game was so close if I were watching the Blazers game and they didn't at least alert me. Sure, they could have probably just given an on-screen alert that the game was close and could be seen on ESPN2, but missing 2 free throws and a halfcourt heave isn't as big a deal as you're making it out to be. They wouldn't have changed channels if it was the middle of the quarter.

so instead of finishing a half of basketball, they'll play the same game on 2 channels while the people watching the original game are SOL?

    Exactly.

That probably would have been the best thing to do.

As I said, an on screen alert would have been better. So would a split-screen. But it's not the worst thing in the world.

Considering the game is both locally broadcast and nationally broadcast on ESPN, what percentage of the people watching on ESPN are either Rockets or Blazers fans? I would guess a majority of the ESPN viewers are general NBA fans, based on the fact that local fans are most likely watching local broadcasts.

Again, the game is on two channels. Fine, then switch the blazers game to ESPN2. sounds like the kind of monkeys with typewriters kind of mentality at ESPN.

i think you guys are missing the big point here. the blazer/rockets game was ALMOST to the half, so that means that ESPN could have waited 2 minutes and shown it as they went into the half and wouldn't have had to miss any of the blazer game.

It was completely ridiculous. If you want to watch Orlando-Philly, change the fucking channel.

I actually had paused the ESPN2 game on the other tuner, had swapped back to the Blazers, and planned on watching the Orlando game ending after halftime started. I wasn't pleased that I missed the end of the first half...

it's too bad that ESPN's picture was better than KGW's....

But I couldnt stand ESPN's play by play announcers. So Mike and Mike it is...
