It'll do for now. Works for Dwight Howard, and it worked well enough for Shaq. And Greg's a much better free-thrower than either, which suggests he could develop a Patrick Ewing-style offense. Bynum's certainly ahead of him in offensive moves, but then he's had a few years in the league to practice.
It's not a theory, it's statistical fact. And Boozer is a fantastic rebounder. I'm not sure what your point is here. Bynum has significantly exceeded expectations (of Laker fans or otherwise) since December 2007 when he finally broke out. His first couple years people were unsure. 2 PER isn't a big gap of course (though it's bigger given that he played somewhat noticably more minutes too), but I never said Bynum owned Oden. They're the same age and Bynum has done more. Both have suffered unfortunate injuries, and may both be injury-prone. We'll see. You're going to have to find them. Besides, notice how I said "mostly observation", since most defensive stats suck at capturing true defensive value. For e.g., Dwight Howard's adjusted +/- is pretty pedestrian but he was clearly DPOY this year. No one can help you if you see Bynum only playing in garbage time. He has been starting and routinely playing more minutes against starters than reserves since 07. Oden? Not so much. He signed a 4 year extension months ago, which doesn't start until next season. He's locked up.
"The Generation" is at it again.... 4 points 2 rebounds 5 fouls 2 TO's 7 mins. All NBA centers bow down to the phenom that is Drew Bynum.

Yo, Rizz! No smack talking…which of these guys will be better at the end of next season? I’m going with Greg. From what I’ve seen, Greg’s physically stronger and at least as efficient O. Bynum may have better footwork, but I think that will change next year. Not that I don’t think Bynum is a stud, but I don’t think he’s going to able to hang with GO after next year. I expect you’ll be bookmarking this thread for the end of next year. I know I will.
its painfully obvious, well maybe not painfully, but Greg is definitely the better center. Bynum just doesn't seem to have that presence..
I hope we get the chance. I'd love for us to put the Rockets in our rear view mirror and face the L*kers.
Updated Playoff Averages: Greg Oden 8.3 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 0.3 spg, 0.7 bpg, 62.5% FGs Andrew Bynum 7.0 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 0.3 spg, 1.3 bpg, 44.4% FGs
Greg took a big step forward tonight. His stats aren't all that, but there were stretches tonight where he played some lockdown defense on Yao.
I'd probably wait a few more games before judging stats, get a bigger sample size. Then again, oden will be fishing in a couple more games, so maybe it's not a great idea
Greg had some awesome moments tonight. When he caught a pass and immediately attacked without thinking or hesitating he was able to get an easy dunk. He could have some big improvements next year when he learns to just play and react instead of trying to plan all his moves out.
I admit my eyes were fixated on Greg every time he and Yao were down on the block jostling for position and I missed a lot of the other action that was taking place on the ball. He played the 7'6" robot as well as I've ever seen a single defender. Yao couldn't move Greg off the block and he couldn't get open no mater how much he pushed and jostled. It's just too bad nobody else could step up offensively and take advantage of his performance.
It was just amazing watching Greg do that. Kid is still coming off micro-fracture, first playoff series ever, Yao has 6 inches and probably 30 pounds on him and he couldn't do anything with Greg on him in the second half. It was just an outstanding defensive performance by Greg.
Updated Playoff Averages (4/25/09): Greg Oden 8.3 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 0.3 spg, 0.7 bpg, 62.5% FGs Andrew Bynum 5.8 ppg, 2.5 rpg, 0.3 spg, 1.0 bpg, 45% FGs
Isn't Greg Oden a rookie playing in his first playoff ever.... and a total bust, and Drew Bynum is the center of his generation playing his 4th year of NBA basketball? I'm new to all of this so any info you can pass on would be helpful. Thanks.
