I don't mind him as a 3rd string point guard. :pimp:

I'm completely content with Farmar as the 3rd stringer.

So coming out of college, Jordan Farmar was nothing close to special but it took you guys 3 years to figure it out ;) I thought he was going to be the starter after Fisher left?

His rookie season he took over the starting job from Smush, during the playoffs, didn't look bad.

He was in the Rookie/Sophmore games twice.

His second season was his best season. He started off strong, but tailed off after the Allstar Break, after J-Critt was traded, but still showed some promise.

He played well during preseason this year.

Not everything mentioned really accounts for much, but bottom line is he showed some promise. He's supposedly a gym rat, most people were expecting him to improve this year. Instead of improving he regressed and he's playing worse than his rookie season. Trading for Shannon Brown was supposed to light a fire up his ass, but his ego is inflated and he basically thought he had the backup role secured, even though he didn't earn it (who was his competition, Sun Yue?). Now his ass is on the bench and he's probably filled with jealousy on the inside. The organization has stated they are not pleased with his development, he's done as a Laker.

Farmar, all of a sudden, has foot pain.

There was an awesome article the other day in my local paper about Luke regulatin' on Odom's ass (no homo).

Luke popped his head out of the weight room and saw Lamar talking with reporters. He told Odom they were trying to win a championship, not get their name out there. He then asked Odom if he was going to work out or not.

Damn Luke is hitting the weights that hard?

I have seen an improvement in his game, though I do trust Lamar on the bench squad regardless. I love Luke's attitude.

Farmar doesn't match up with Utah's backcourt players. He's just too small and can't defend the pick & roll when he's forced to switch. Farmar also faded late in the season (again) and isn't running the offense the way PJax wants. Farmar is also terrible on the road and can't make his free throws. If the Lakers face Portland or Houston in the second round I think we'll see more of Farmar. They'll need him to chase around Sergio and Blake or Brooks.

I don't know Shape, Farmar doesn't match up well with anyone anymore. That said, as much as I've railed on him I'd like for him to become at least a mediocre third option.

Yeah he's digressed down the stretch and has been a disaster for us on the defensive end. Teams go right at him when he's on the court and it causes our defense to break down. At least Fisher tries to funnel a player to the secondary defender when he gets beat off the dribble, but Farmar gives zero resistance, takes the wrong angle on picks, and doesn't have the size to defend a guard in the post.

With SB3 coming on strong it's going to be hard for Farmar to earn his minutes back. Hopefully he can give us some quality minutes at some point, but I'm glad we don't have to count on him being the backup anymore.

Maybe we could use him against Brooks or Blake in the 2nd round.
