The Game just reported from practice that Nate was very upset with the officiating and that the Blazers sent in a video compilation of the call "inconsistency" occuring in this series. It's about time.

This can only turn out bad, imho. They'll be called whiners by the national media.

Thank god. There's now way Yao only committed 1 foul in 44min last night when he supposedly gets a hard time from the refs.

If you're going to call it one way on Portland, fine, do it. But make the same calls on the other end.

Yeah, because when Rick Adelman and the Rockets complained after Game 2, it sure screwed them over for games 3 and 4. Oh, wait.

Considering Nate isn't one to be a complainer, you have to think he has a legitimate gripe. Anyone who has watched the series would tell you that. Maybe even Rockets fans.

Too bad he waited until our backs were against the wall to do it. I do like to see Nate with this kind of attitude though.

I definitely agree the foul calls have been inconsistent, and I have no problem with either team complaining about it.

I absolutely HATE it that you have to whine to the league in hope of getting equal treatment from the officials. Adelman/Houston whined and it worked. Now, McMillan/Portland feel they have to whine back, just to swing the officiating pendulum back in the other direction.

Unfortunately, when the league started to let teams/coaches provide "input" about the officiating between games, they opened up a huge can of worms. I certainly hope the league comes to their senses and puts a stop to this. They simply need to stop accepting input on officiating mid-series. Otherwise, it becomes a case of the squeaky wheel that whines the loudest gets what they want.

Stop the whining! A strict "no input on officiating accepted mid-series" policy would put an end to teams and coaches influencing the way the games are called. The NBA pays their officials well and constantly reviews their performance. They need to start letting them do their job free from external influences. Until then, the back-and-forth whining, cries of favortism and conspiracy theories will only get worse.

    Finally.

I like that Nate has a rule about the players not complaining about calls, it's pointless during a game and could cost us points during the game, but there is no reason Nate can't. Other coaches do with positive results.

On a slightly different note, the Blazers were up 13-6, when the Rockets went on a 19-4 tear. Primarily, the damage was a result of:

    a) Blazer turnovers
    b) Rockets (continuous) Offensive Rebounds
    c) Rockets good (wide open) outside shooting' Blazers poor (or indecisive) outside shooting.
    d) Rockets hustle and aggressive play

None of the play during this portion was affected by poor officiating. And, IMO, this is the portion of the game where Portland lost control.....and eventually the game.

I hate that Nate has to resort to this because Adelman's previous whining worked.
