I think this is a good move by Nate. My only complaint is that he waited one game too long to do it. Just think if he did this after game three (which had equally poor officiating), it could've very well made the difference between us winning and losing.

Oh well, better late than never.

The NBA is becoming a lot like Ice Skating or Gynamistics... or any of the judged sports. It is sad.

Totally expected some type of punch line about leotards or or classical music here, I am disappointed.

Valid point about that sequence ABM. Now suppose the officials don't blow a couple of calls previous (or post) that incident and give the Blazers free throws?

I can pick out any section of the game and say "this is what cost the Blazers", but it's more than just one area - that's why the game lasts four quarters!

The officials need to no longer be employed by the NBA. They should be a seperate company that is contracted by the NBA to officiate games and to conduct training seminars. If they are not employed by the league then they will not be influenced by the league to call the games in a certain manner. It is quite simple, Czar Stern gives a copy of the leagues official rules to the new company and they interpret and call games according to the book.

Better yet, lets get on board with the rest of the world and adopt the trapezoid lane, five fouls your out and use international refs. This shit has to end and the game of basketball needs to be reintroduced to the NBA. So what if the NBA is full of great athletes that can knock the shit out of each other up and down the court. That is not basketball. What we saw in the Olympics was basketball.

I don't remember about that specific run, (though I do remember being frustrated by an over the back by Scola that wasn't called) but I can tell you that as the game went on you could easily notice that those "hustle" offensive rebounds were more "Go over, under or through whoever is in your way to get a rebound because the refs aren't calling jack didly crap on us" rebounds.

This is true. It just seemed to me that the Blazers were confident coming out, then they chucked it away.

To be honest, though, I believe the real reason they lost all happened in the 4th quarter:

    a) 7 Blazer turnovers
    b) Something like 10 Rocket offensive rebounds...leading to, like, 13, 2nd chance points
    c) Lowry taking the charge on Roy
    d) Battier's 2 treys
    e) Nate selecting Outlaw (as opposed to Rudy) to take the last shot

6 Turnovers and a charge, or 7 turnovers and leave the charge out.

Outlaw taking that last shot isn't what lost us the game, the shit that happened before, when we were up 6 lost us the game.

the offensive rebounds are because they were able to be MUCH more physical w/us than we are w/them, which is why a lot of us our complaining. Have you see Battier and Artest grab Roy's and Trout's jersey? I have countless times, then when posting up, they're hooking, pushing, shoving, etc. B-Roy has to do it too, but then you take that stuff, and you move it over to the Center position, and bam, we get called.

The timing of this is pretty stupid though. We don't want even calls at home. ;) We want them on the road. Seriously... say nothing and we'd prolly have gotten some home cooking. Bring it to their attention and I bet they will make sure it is even. If the whole serious was that way then fine... but it would have been nice to get some home cooking. Oh well.

Lame. Blazers lost CLEARLY when they had the lead because of they got outplayed. But somehow, there's always people willing to blame refs. Even when you lose by 27 :sigh:

"Let's fine Nate and Doc for bitching about our series managemenr... err, reffing!"

"We better fine Rick too, he bitched like none other between 3 and 4."

"But we were going to give them more calls anyway..."

"We have to pretend to be fair."

"Oh right... my bad. Fine them all!"

    Excellent!

Now, in addition to penalizing the public whining, they need to stop listening to ANY and ALL "input" from coaches and teams between games. Wait until the play-offs are over and then solicit input, make any necessary rule changes and start the next season with a consistent baseline. Changing the way games are called mid-series is total bullshit. A foul is a foul is a foul. No amount of bitching should change that.

BTW, didn't Rick also complain publically about the officiating after game 2? If so, should he be fined $50,000 - not $25,000 like Nate and Doc?

The funny part about these quotes is that it's all David Stern talking to himself.
