For once, I agree with you. What an idiotic post. Ben Gordon is good, but he isn't an elite player. I love the fact that he isn't accounting age into his post. Garnett is much older and has much more miles on his legs than Gordon.
KG takes damn good care of his body. He has one of the most demanding offseason routines around the league. He's also evolved each season to compensate for his bad knees. He's implemented Yoga & Pilates the past two summers and does a lot of training on the sand to improve his core strength. You don't think he wants to be out there right now? I agree that KG's intimidation act has gotten old though.
Yep, it's gamesmanship. If Gordon's a real man, he'll make crazy game tying or winning shots at the end of games and OT periods and make his FTs when the game's on the line.
The funny thing about the whole scenario is how unfazed Ben Gordon is by KG taunting him in comparison to how upset and irate his fanboy is.
Neil Funk and Stacey King said that Kevin Garnett was yelling at Vinny Del Negro too. How has the guy not been called for a technical. If Del Negro went over and started yelling obscenities to Kevin Garnett, he surely would be ejected from the game.
The guy does have ice in his veins. I'm sure he's heard all kinds of shit from the other players all along. It's gamesmanship, part of the game. Right now, the gamesmanship is having zero effect on any of the Bulls, which is great. The hard fouls and hard flagrant fouls not called (playoff fouls) are something the Jordan era Bulls had to figure out and overcome to become champs. This team has to learn the same thing.
The Bulls have impressed me and I think talent-wise they have surpassed the second tier teams in the east (Atlanta, Miami, Philly, Detroit) since the trade deadline, and I wouldn't be surprised to see them competing for a top 3 seed next year if the keep the team together.
Stacey King thinks Garnett needs to show some class. http://sports.espn.go.com/stations/player?context=podcast&id=4111163
Yeah, because Del Negro leaving his bench area for the Celtics' might be a bit... I don't know, noticable?
Stats cannot measure Kevin Garnett's incredible positive influence on a basketball team. I'd pick him over Ben Gordon for my team 100 times out of 100. Gordon has been great this series and when he's hot, he's on fire, but he doesn't do much else. Put him on the Celtics instead of Garnett, and there is no chance of them beating the Lakers last year or doing anything this season. That being said, Garnett can be a jackass, but that's him. No big surprise. Also, I <3 Roberson.
Perhaps, but I could probably live with a TO if it meant seeing KG take an errant basketball to the face.
Don't ever say anything bad about BG, because he's The Greatest Threepoint Shooter and FastBreak Scorer in the Game Today(TM)..... But yeah, KG's act is getting old.
Yeah, there's no comparison. Though Gordon in 5 years will be 30 and Garnett will be playing like Mutombo.
I think Garnett will retire before reaching Mutombo status. He's too proud to be relegated to the "old backup center who's only in the game for defense role." He already has a ring, his body is already falling apart, why stretch his career if he can retire satisfied?
As this thread seems to indicate, he doesn't appear particularly satisfied. Is he hitched? I wonder if his wife is watching this shit and sitting around contemplating what life will be like when he's retired
