I think a guy like Monta Ellis is more of a realistic target

My bet is by the time next season starts there are at least 8 threads like this for every top 4 PG in the league.

I think part of it is the fact that Jay is trying a little too hard to play off of Vance by taking up a contrary position.

It wouldn't surprise me. Jay, MARIS and MB seem to all have the same viewpoints on these type of things.

He's pretty much the same when he hosts the Fifth Quarter as well. I just think it's hard for him to be critical since he's around the team so much. But damn, he hates to admit our players or the team have a weakness. Oh well, just a small grudge.

I didn't listen to Kenny Vance . . . but I have brought up Parker before and here is my reasoning why he might be attainable:

If the spurs accept that the run is over and they need to rebuild . . . the thought is probably to rebulid around Parker and Manu. But does that make a lot of sense? PG's career span is usually short, Parker could spend the prime of his career, rebuilding . . . but by the time they rebuild and become a contender again, Parker may have wasted the best years of his career. Does Parker really feel like being part of a rebuilding team and would a class organization like the spurs make Parker do that.

Overall I think the Spurs are going to kid themselves that they have one more year in them to make a run (Duncan's farewell tour) and thus keep Parker and Manu. Maybe when Duncan retires, they then have to accept rebuilding, but probably not until then.

A Parker/Roy backcourt would seriously be the best backcourt in the League.

The chance of San Antonio trading their 26 y/o All-Star? ...None.

Here is a WILD, THROW OUT name for a point guard to go for this off-season, one that I think could reasonably be had that the Blazers wouldn't have to give up the farm for....

It's too hard to land a top quality PG, and Parker ranks up there with Deron Williams and Chris Paul. Assuming that we're not going to trade Roy or Oden, I really don't think we could put a package together that would entice SA, unless Parker demanded a trade for some reason.

    Agreed.

Let me tell you - San Antonio doesn't believe they're past their championship window. And they might be right. Duncan was off to a good start this year until his knees got sore. The guy is only 33, and while he has a lot of miles on those knees - it's not inconceivable that he can play 3-5 more years. He wont be the Timmy of 2003 again (at least not for 82 + games) but truthfully he wasn't in 2007 either - when San Antonio won their 4th title.

They probably feel like they need to get TD some help doing the dirty work. Guys like Nesterovic, Malik Rose, Mohammed protected him from breaking down late in the season. Yeah, Matt Bonner doesn't exactly give you the same toughness as those guys.

So if you're SA, you get Manu back next year - he's only 31. Get some beef in the middle to help Timmy out + rest him more in the regular season. Add a slashing SF type (Michael Finley is DONE) who can defend on the perimeter and you're right back in contention. No way they move Parker until that window is slammed shut.

On Canzano's show, KP said he doesn't think there will be wholesale changes, but instead little tweaks here and there. So we will see. He also said the Blazers are going to be very active, and they really must because this is one of their last chances to be this active, imo.

Its sad to see some people actually advocating to trade my man LMA though. The guy is a beast. I hope he is on our team for the rest of his career.

Agreed. Comparing MIXUM to Colin Cowherd almost qualifies as a personal attack against MIXUM.
