We lost homecourt to the Spurs back in our last title run, then won in five games. We'll just have to do what the Magic did this year.

I knew from game 1 the Celtics would win that series, even after they lost to the Bulls. Don't know how they'll do next round though.

:sigh: Hope that has no correlation with Lakers/Rockets series.

Btw, Lakers fans must admit Rockets are a bit tougher than you guys thought.

Certainly for Pau, what a disgrace tonight.

No they aren't. They are very formidable, but 5 was my choice with 6 being a realistic possibility.

Think it might be too much rest? Not enough rhythm?

I can only see more rest/lack of rhythm in game 1 going in Lakers' favor. They'll be coming back with the punch.

    ROCKETS TAKE GAME ONE!!!

Ice cold from the arc, and I just didn't like the rotations tonight.

Our bigs looked soft as hell, and Drew got 15 minutes? Even I could tell Pau was off long ago, come on Phil.

1 game, not fretting. I couldn't watch all of it because of HW. It's been a long layoff, you can tell they probably weren't 100% there. Not trying to make excuses though, so forget it. The Rockets played terrific basketball today and the Lakers lost, fair and square. This is a good wakeup call though, and we'll see how they respond. We need a test in the postseason and something to build off of, unlike last year. Hopefully the team learns from this loss and plays better. Other than that, I cannot really comment. Rockets played well and they deserved the win. Hopefully the Lakers learn from their mistakes and adjust.

Postseason is a journey. Clear your obstacles and face adversity. What doesn't kill you only makes you stronger, and I'm a firm believer in that after what happened last year.

Looking forward to Game 2. Hopefully we'll play better and get the W.

Yeah we don't make excuses about Free Throws or anything like most fans (that stuff is only relevant on a handful of occasions in my opinion), we just got outplayed.

Re: Round 2: Lakers vs. Rockets Series Thread (Houston leads 1-0)

Calls could've made a difference but I don't care anymore. This team needs to wake up and step up or else we're not winning it this year. If it takes some adversity to get them going then so be it. Bottom line is, we could've very well won this game but we didn't get it done. Next time, things better be different. I expected it to be a 5 or 6 game series regardless, just that I didn't expect us to lose the first game. But whatever. If we manage to draw CLE in the Finals we'll have to win on the road anyways. Time to gain more experience. ;)

Pau looked gassed in the second half, him and Fish couldn't do much out there on D.

I'll give Kobe credit, he kept trying till the end in spite of his condition. I don't know what excuses the other guys will use but 7 days rest or not it is not acceptable.

Wanna reconsider this statement? Aaron Brooks' energy in the 2nd half got us key buckets down the stretch. He made those key jumpers we needed.

Oh please, get over that flu shit, and give Battier credit for tonight.

Battier didn't stop Kobe. He simply cooled off in the second half. He can only do so much. We're coming off a week of rest (We're notorious for struggling when we have a long lay off like that), Kobe was sick over the weekend, and Gasol, Fisher, and Odom didn't really step up.

    Trust me, we'll be fine.

The big in this series that disappears probably screws his team or makes them more likely to lose obviously, Brooks can't carry a team so no I don't think he's the guy to focus on or a top three key.

I think Kobe did ok, not great but good considering he didn't even shoot around before the game. Why don't you chill out instead of getting offended?

I thought Kobe looked pretty solid in the second half, we just didn't get much out of the bigs.
