I'm not gonna lie, I would love Birdman on our team. I know there is no chance because his heart is in the Mile High City, but man we need that type of player off of our bench. Hopefully it is Bayless next year and we can find someone who can rebound like him (Blair?)
haha, i agree with you 100%. most of my friends think im crazy, but he is productive as well as a fan favorite. sure there may be better options at the backup 4 spot, but the Blazers need rebounding, toughness and a little bit of attitude. i dont think the Birdman is a detriment to his team (other than getting booted for drugs). he probably loves Denver, but if it's the city, people, pace (err, good weed) then he'd be happy in Portland as well.
It would be great to get Chris Andersen. He's basically a tattooed power forward version of Joel Przybilla. He's an excellent rebounder, a very good defender and, while he doesn't score much, he does score efficiently. Basically, he only take shots when he has an easy attempt. For a poor scoring talent, that's a good habit. But I don't see Denver letting him go and Andersen probably would rather be a Nugget, all else being equal.
And a perfect customer for all the drug dealers (mostly pot) here in Portland. That being said, he'd give the Blazers the type of bravado they need. We have enough character guys that one guy like that wouldn't be able to dominate the locker room. He's good for business (not mine). I'm all for it. Make it happen. Then, let it bake (not you Birdman).
Basketball wise, I wouldn't mind having Anderson at all, but I can just hear Crapzano's whining right now of how, "This team has just spat in the face of every one of YOU by going against everything they've built." So if it's there, I'd probably do it, but there would be ramifications in the general public's eye.
I am a person who can overlook a lot of things.. but Birdman is too much of a douche for even me to overlook.

They don't have to think. We tell Outlaw to score and Andersen to block shots and get rebounds. Then we collect our championship trophies. Right?
if you say so.. to me Outlaw and Birdman are not contributors on championship quality teams. but thats my opinion.
As reserves, really? I don't think you can reasonably expect better players off the bench. They're not my idea of championship-caliber starters, but definitely reserves for a championship-caliber team.
fair enough.. we can agree to disagree on this one. IMO in high pressure, tense situations.. Birdman hurts you more than helps.. Look at him tonight for example, plays like absolute garbage, and then we he gets called for a stupid, absolutely idiotic foul, he was VERY fortunate not to get T'd up. Lets say for example he is T'd up and everything else plays out the same... The Mavericks are playing in OT and who knows what happens there. But I respect your opinion too.
I respect your opinion, too. I think you're over-emphasizing one bad end-game, though. Most bench players have instances of bad performance. I think Blake would be a great second-string point guard, and he's certainly had his share of crushing end-game stretches. My impression is that Andersen is generally not a liability in key situations, beyond his poor ability to score (a weakeness plenty of good role-players have).
Uh, yeah...care to elaborate? Maybe so. But they're all based on his current performances on/off the court.
The problem with Chris Andersen is that he has Ruben-Patterson-Dennis-Rodmanitis. He gets so caught up in making spectacular individual plays in one phase of the game that he ignores things that would help the team. For example, because he goes for blocks, he often leaves his man open. Because he's busy preening for the camera after a block, he doesn't get back on defense. He's one of those guys because he doesn't care much about scoring, you think he's a team guy. But really, he's just as bad as a black-hole chucker, just in a different stat.
