Not to make you sound unimformed, but Sergio won a World Championship with the Spanish National Team.

Or more accurately, the Spanish National Team won a World Championship with Sergio's considerable help.

They have fired the coach who kept him off the team and cost them an Olympic Gold Medal this year, and he will most likely be invited back to play for the team again.

Thought to be one of the best European prospects of his age, Rodríguez was named the MVP of the 2004 FIBA Europe Under-18 Championship, which was held in Zaragoza, Spain, while playing with the Spanish national junior team. He led the host Spanish team to the tournament's gold medal. In the eight games of that tournament, he averaged 19 points per game, 4.6 rebounds per game, 8.5 assists per game and 2.1 steals per game.

In August 2006, Rodríguez won the gold medal at the 2006 FIBA World Championship while playing with the senior Spanish National Team. He also won the silver medal with Spain's senior national team at the 2007 European Championship.

At least 6 or 7 Championships, with an adequate coach who doesn't have a personal problem with playing him.

Maybe in NBA 2k9 when you change all his attributes to 99.

I'm not unimformed and knew most of your post. I will bet Sergio will not make the next Spaniah national team and isn't going to be anything more then a 3rd string backup PG in the NBA no matter what team he plays for even the Knicks.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
    Nope.

    Nate McMillan's stats were: 5.9 PPG (44.3 FG%) / 6.1 APG / 4.0 RPG

Not great stats, but combined with his very good defense he was a much better player than Sergio.

    Sergio.

Somehow Brandon Roy gets PT even with Nate as coach. The actual really good players are hard to keep off the court.

I completely disagree. I don't see any reason why Sergio won't be on his national team this time around. In fact I've heard rumblings already that he likely will be a part of the team.

As for his career in the NBA, the dude is very young still and played quite well in a system and for a coach that doesn't fit him. Put him on another team, and I could see him being a starting guard in this league.

Obviously I'm in the minority, but Serg is going to get better and make another city very happy some day.

I just hope that it is not Portland. He does not play defense and that is not winning basketball. You need to have your pg at least try to play defense.

Ooooook, either you think the coach cost them the gold medal (don't know what the evidence is for that, considering the US team was about a million times better), or you think they didn't win the gold because Sergio Rodriguez wasn't on the team. The latter is, of course, much more ridiculous than the former.

Just because he was expected to be good, doesn't mean he is. You can say all the excuses and blame Nate McMillan but the facts are that he didn't perform well enough to stay on the floor, and he didn't earn more playing time.

I do believe he will find some form of success on a running team that plays no defense, but whatever team he finds that with likely won't have much team success.

just get rid of him...he complains about playing time and wants to be traded, but he still hasn't improved one area of his game since his rookie year. thats why we all had high hope for him after his rookie season because we thought he would work hard and improve his weaknesses...instead he is complaining and asking to be traded.....sorry rudy but sergio wont be here next year

honestly i think you do to start with. he did imporve his 3pt shooting, yea it's not good still but it was an improvement. what really killed him here was last season and him not improving for whatever reason. he really regressed and had to start all over this season. from all accounts he worked hard in the offseason and was able to regain his form that he showed his rookie campaign. hopefully for him he continues to work hard and progresses, even though it doesn't appear that he will be in PDX. he will only be 23 when next season rolls around and he has alot of ball left, to think that he will be out of the league is just plain stupid.

as for rubio, he plays decent defense but please spare me the great part. i've watched many games and have yet to see him play "great" defense. in fact from what i've seen he loves to gamble and that is the style of D that nate seems to loathe.

Sergio will be good, but not for our half-court offense. That's what kills his potential here.

He BARELY, BARELY improved his three point shooting. After two years, I would have expected so much more. I mean, listen to yourself...you just admitted that he is still only as good as he was during his rookie season. This Sergio is not a starter, nor is he even a good backup. He's merely serviceable.

And yet, Sergio does the same thing and is worse at it............
