Again, good for him I never said he was going to play poorly every game. Didn't you say the Magic were going to get swept? Kobe's work against Houston's great perimeter defense was nothing short of spectacular at times, I don't worry about him giving us a few monster games.
Hilarious! why dont you count the one's during Kobe's early years in the league? After all this is a debate about the 2 players and their CAREERS RIGHT? This is what i can't get... why are people so sucked up with the media hype everytime the press releases an article on someone? Why can't we just WAIT for these guys to retire and then compare them. who knows... by that time there maybe a different debate... who is MJ's 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th or whatever nth coming LOL *BTW, this should be the basis of everyone's argument http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f2B0...kobe-loses-his-rings/&feature=player_embedded
I don't know what qualifies as "surpassing a player" but once LeBron gets multiple championships then I don't think he has surpassed Kobe in anything. I also don't think he's the better offensive player either. I have yet to see LeBron have five consecutive 50+ point games or nine consecutive 40+ streaks. He's never scored 81 either. Another big part of being the best offensive player all-around player is being clutch and being able to close out games. LeBron hasn't shown that on a consistent enough basis. Yesterday when he missed that crucial free throw against Orlando it just showed that, if he wants to be on Kobe's level offensively, he's going to have to be able to convert during pressure situations. There's no one who strikes as much fear in the opponent as Kobe Bryant. Defensively, Kobe is better. LeBron is more likely to get you the highlight defensive play (emphatic blocks off the backboard, etc.) but Kobe is the superior defender overall.
What leads you to think the Lakers would get run over by the Cavs in the Finals? They're 0-2 record against them on the season? They're now 3-7 record against the elite teams in the NBA this year? Or was it LeBron's amazing 14/45 shooting against them in 2 games this year? Aside from the Cavs annihilating inferior competition in the first 2 rounds of the playoffs this year, there's no reason to think they'd necessarily beat the Lakers, and especially not run over them. The Lakers beat them pretty handily each time this year, by 10 and 17, and LeBron didn't play well at all. Until the Cavs can show me that they can beat a quality opponent, I wouldn't pick them to beat the Lakers in a series.
