    It's interesting that Walton Jr. didn't mention the stacked Celtics team that his father played a reserve role on (although a more important one than his on the Lakers) who almost certainly WOULD eat the current Lakers for lunch (I have to think that there's too big a difference in athleticism between '77 teams and '09 ones - although the '77 Philly team was pretty stellar). Wasn't Luke a big Celtics fan as a kid?

    That's funny... does Luke know who was on that Philly team the Blazers beat to win? It was basically an All-Star team. Nobody thought the Blazers had a chance against them... except the Blazers.

    They guarded Dr. J pretty effectively so I'm thinking they'd somehow manage Kobe (as much as any team can). :cheers:

    Bobby Gross played brilliantly in the Championship Series vs. Philly and Dr. J. who was in his PRIME. I would give Gross even money against Kobe.

    Walton has said on many occasions that he treasures the '77 title with the Blazers far more than his Celtic title.

    I'm sure most of you were too young (or not born yet) to remember that series but if you ever get a chance to watch the games from the '77 finals (they show them on ESPN classics once in a while) take advantage of it.

    That team was amazing. They were so fluid and fast, brilliant passing, the game looks much slower now compared to them. They were completely fundamentally sound and truly played a team game. The players knew their roles and contributed exactly what the team needed to win.

    Bill Walton walked out on the team. He shit on his coach, his team-mates, and the fans. Since the post Drexler era, he has never missed a chance to bad mouth the team.

    He felt he was mishandled by the medical staff here.
