    Not a great source:

That would be a weird trade. I think Rondo is the best player involved, but I wouldn't have thought Memphis would think so, given that they turned down Amare when Phoenix asked for Gay.

What are you talking about? You provided a LINK! Isn't that the gold standard for evaluating a source's credibility?

Is it? I got the sense last year that Gay and OJ Mayo weren't getting alone too well. There were struggles at the end of games where they were not sharing the ball and it looked bad to me. I felt the team would have to choose one to committ to, and then move them for a complimentary player. If Rondo goes to Memphis, they will have a very good defensive back court, that can rumble with anybody for years to come. Mayo and Rondo in the back court would be very good for many years to come.

They give up Gay AND Conley? That's crazy talk. Rondo is good, but that's quite a bit, and I thought Mayo wanted to play point?

Rudy Gay is the best player in the trade.

Mayo is going to bolt to a big market as soon as his contract runs out.

This is most likely fabricated. If it were reported on a news station it would be all over the net by now. Not by some random poster.

But for conversation sake, Memphis would have a great core to build around.

    PG: Rondo
    SG: Mayo
    SF:
    PF: Gasol
    C: Thabeet

But like I said, this is most likely a fabrication from a message board attention whore.

At the same time, how many times in the past have we seen a team play a player big minutes and get their numbers up so they can ship them out of town? Jerry Stackhouse in Detroit comes to mind. So does Zach Randolph after the injury here. It would not surprise me if they played Conley just to ship him.

If Rondo is really available, would Jerryd Bayless and Rudy Fernandez be an attractive starting point?

How can a 15.4 PER guy with bad defense be the best player in the trade when Rondo is an 18.8 PER guy and is a pretty good defender? :dunno:

Rudy Gay is Travis Outlaw with an ego... - I think Travis is a very nice backup to have at $4m/per - but he is not as good as Rondo...

wow. you guys really think Rudy Gay is that bad eh? I chalk it up to the talent around him more than anything. Rondo, to me has been a bit overrated as far as skills go, put anyone next to Allen, KG and Pierce and they'll look like Jesus.

I don't either. What have you seen with your own two eyes that makes you think Gay is better than Rondo?

What are you talking about? Rudy Gay had much better numbers when the talent around him was worse. Once OJ Mayo got there and Gay could not take any stupid shot he had his heart set on - he was exposed as a Travis Outlaw clone.

Why do you think Memphis wants Travis so bad? He can give them everything Gay does at half the price - and will bring some people to buy tickets at home games...

Maybe he thinks Rondo is a sexshul orientation? Not sure how you can think Gay the basketball player is even close to Rondo the basketball player so I'm going with an explanation of term confusion.

To me, Rondo's success seems more indicative of the team he plays on. When one has that much talent on it sure he's going to look like a great point guard because Ray Ray, KG and Pierce will always hit their shots. I don't put him in the category of elite PGs of the league and I don't think he has the potential to do si.

Gay, while on a crappy team, still is a good prototype of what I would think a solid SF would be. I like his athleticism and upside.
