I don't like this very much at all. I think KP should rather sit tight and wait for July 1st and go for Miller or Sessiosn. Both know how to run a team much better than Kirk.

Not only is he as good if not better than Blake on offense I would pay for extra salary purely based on the fact that he will save at least 1-2 fouls a game on our bigs. There is no equation that will factor that but its as important as any reason to want Kirk.

Kirk isn't going to be running the team. Brandon is.

I really like Hinrich. I'd be psyched if we got him.

That said, I'm not sure what he thinks is that valuable of information. Often times players have just as little information as fans do. I'd be more inclined to think this was substantial if it were something like "Hinrich's agent tells him to be prepared for a move to Portland." But this story is just some friend of Hinrich's telling someone that Hinrich told him he thinks he'll be dealt to Portland. I'm not gonna get my hopes up.

He's way too expensive for my liking, at least in accordance to what he brings.

Having a PG who can actually contain the guy he's guarding will subtract out a foul every night for Greg Oden. And the guy shot 41% from three last year, so at the bare minimum he replaces everything Blake gives you on offense.

It's not the world-beating upgrade I'm hoping for, but it's certainly acceptable. It takes our biggest weakness and makes it a neutral.

Miller is too old and with the Bucks trade Sessions is probably out of play.

Hinrich is most likely the best available option for a point guard upgrade. I don't see much else out there. He has had playoff success. He is a far better defender then Blake. His contract goes down in amount instead of up in each year. No real downside, as long as Portland doesn't have to give up a whole lot for him.

That of course is why the trade won't happen. KP won't want to get rid of valuable players like Blake and Outlaw to get Capt. Kirk.

You seriously think Blake outplayed Hinrich in this year's playoffs?

Really? Sessions (which I like) was never in the playoffs. Capt. Kirk was the starting PG for a young Chicago team that won 49 games.

Andre Miller in 11 years has been to the playoffs 5 times, Kirk in 6 years has been to the playoffs 4 times.

Are you sure about going with Sessions and Miller being better running a team? History does not seem to support this statement...

Too old for what? To date your daughter? Sure. To expect him to be here 5 or 6 years from now? Sure. But to make this team a contender for the next few seasons? I think he is a much better option than Kirk. Sessions still isn't out of the question. Getting Kirk will likely mean Tyrus Thomas will accompany him and other bits for essentially scraps like Blake and Outlaw. Kirk's value is NOT high. Is he an improvement over Blake? Sure, but not significantly enough IMO.

Such inconsequential statistics you're showing. How about showing who's had more talent on their team? How about who's actually played More playoff games?

So let's work Brandon like a dog again because no other player can get us into our offensive scheme? That's weak. I'd like Brandon to play a little more off the ball personally.

What talent was on Chicago's team until they got Derrick Rose? A bunch of over-rated starter-level guys... they just played great, tough defense to get there... - and Capt. Kirk was part of that tough defense.

What scoring did these Chicago teams have? No post players, Ben Gordon which is streaky as hell and...?

We do not need someone to run this team - we already have Roy to do it. We need someone that can bring the ball up-court, distribute some, shoot the open 3 and play great defense - and if he can grow with the team as it enters it's prime - that's great. Hinrich answers all these attributes. Miller does not (bad 3 point shooter, is older ). Add the fact that Miller is rumored to be a locker-room pain - something Kirk most definitely is not - and quite frankly - Hinrich seems like a better fit.

    Kirk - Blake = (1 less Oden Foul)/20 min.

This is one important reason to like Kirk.

    1. Miller can't be signed until after the draft. You risk missing out on Kirk, or other point guards, if you're going to wait.

    2. The cost to add Miller will be substantially more and for likely 5 seasons. The competition for his services will be fierce.

    3. His production will deteriorate over the life of his contract.

Hinrich is cheaper. Fills a huge need for years to come. Improves the team. Fits in age-wise. This is definitely a winning move in my book.

But that's not what got Brandon Roy, to be Brandon Roy....

This is his team to run, everyone else is 2nd and 3rd options, unless hes smoke screening. Which is a good thing.
