Have many of you seen him play? He is certainly not a SG in a PG body and he is without a doubt the best passer on your roster. In some early mock drafts he was projected as high as 15. His size is certainly a legitimate issue but I'd be shocked if he doesn't make your roster. I think there's even a good chance he makes Bayless play some backup 2 and takes a good portion of the backup PG minutes. I don't like youtube highlights because they can make anyone look good but if you can, go back and watch some of his regular season or NIT games. He made some very bad St Mary's players look very good. It's a shame they got robbed of an NCAA bid so he couldn't show what he can do.
I saw him play in that game against the redeem team. He can score and he's a good defender. I think he'll exceed people's expectations
I would guess he became a good passer at about age 12. If you didn't/don't recognize him as a good passer, then you definitely missed something. He might be a great passer. That doesn't mean he's a great (or even good) player, but he's a good passer. His assist percentage as a rookie was amazing, and he led the team in assist percentage last year by a large margin. Ed O.
It's probably the cute accent... The Rockets got China. We've tapped into the Spanish market... why not one up them and get the Australians behind us too?
He is a great passer in the open court, but I wouldn't say great at all in the half-court. Great passers are great in both categories, Rodriguez is not IMO.
Mills reminds me of another high scoring, turnover prone, undersized former WCC guard - Pooh Jeter. Very similar size and very similar stats. BNM
Kevin Pelton's comparison stats for Mills were very similar Jay Williams (94.5%); Daniel Gibson (94.4%); Maurice Williams (94.0%); O.J. Mayo (93.8%); and Ben Gordon (93.8%). http://www.basketballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=707 I still like the comparison of a worse-shooting Aaron Brooks. And shooting can always improve. The more I learn about Mills the more I like. He's not Taureen Green.
Vitale automatically placed college players above prep-to-pro players. There's no actual "analysis" going on there, even if he happened to end up on the right answer.
But, each and everyone of those players played college ball in MUCH tougher conferences than the WCC. BNM
If Mills is legit, and that is a pretty big "if", he will likely not be on the Blazer roster. If he is any good, a team in Europe will offer him more money.
Ya, and then teams drop off him and dared him to shoot and there went his game. But he could pass before other teams took that away.
He still had the highest assist percentage on the Blazers last year. The man can pass, whether he is able to hit a shot consistently or not. Without being a better shooter, though, he's never going to be an impact player. Ed O.
Right on the money. Sergio is an elite passer. Period. Which is probably why half the board was so upset we traded him and so hopeful he will become a star - but unfortunately, this is his only great attribute and until it changes - he will hang by his finger-nails to remain in the NBA.
