I'm wondering what kind of contract Bibby, Miller and Kidd will ask for. Cost, specifically. Are Bibby and Miller definitely going to ask for more than the MLE? Any guesses? If Hedo is indeed looking for 10mil (avg yearly), could Bibby ask for 6,7,8 Mil? Could Miller ask for more than the MLE as well? Just curious what you guys think about this.

I think Bibby asks for something around the MLE. Miller I see asking about 8-10 Mil.

Wow, really? I thought it would be the other way around. Miller will be 33 next season. Hmmm...that's interesting.

Here's where this all started for me.

Blake's cost and output vs Free Agent PG's cost and output

Are ANY of the PG FA's available worth a cost increase based on THEIR output vs Blake's output? I'm not so sure about it. I'm throwing Kidd out of the mix because I'd be shocked if the Blazers actually pursued him.

    Blake

    STL last season: 69

    Bibby

    STL last season: 98

Next season's salary: MLE? (5.58 Mil) More?

I'm just not sold that either of these guys, if they ask for more than the MLE are WORTH the "upgrade." The only way I could say definitively YES is if they're BOTH much better defenders than Blake. Are they?

You kind of did a false limit of choices, there.

I wholeheartedly agree that keeping Blake is better than paying Bibby anything. I somewhat agree that Miller over a 3-yr period would be worse than Blake over the same.

But neither of those 3 actually passes the ball around much, or helps his teammates get easy shots.

That's why it's crucial to get someone like Kidd or Nash or Sessions (or even Hinrich, as a barrel-scraper), rather than a "scoring" PG.

How much is Artest going to ask for? Any guesses? He made 7.4 last season.

I should have been more clear. This was a specific argument I was having with some friends and the reason I posted it was to get an idea of what Bibby, Miller and Kidd will ask for. Without having agreed upon that number the argument could never finish.

I get the Kidd thing but damn - he's going to ask for way more than I think the Blazers should pay. At least, I'm assuming as much. Dude is going to be 36 next season. No thanks.

I found this for another thread. I found the entire thing quite interesting actually.

    http://www.cbssports.com/nba/playerr...gularseason/PG

The team one shows Portland had the 25th PG play in the league. It breaks it down somehow using offensive and defensive stats. Most of the possitions are pretty in line, so I think it's accurate

You can always ask, but KP is not going after any of them so the point is moot.

So who is he going after? Someone on the Kings maybe?

If you read the whole thread you would understand that I asked the question due to an argument I was having with someone. They were convinced Bibby would be an upgrade over Blake, and I was not.

I agree though - I don't think Portland is going after any of them. I see Hinrich and Artest in our future.

Yeah. Beno Udrih to Portland. The bandwagon starts right behind MARIS.

You know it's weird, but it seems that the agents themselves, seem to have targeted 10 million as the magic number. All sorts of reports of this guy or that guy wanting 10 million per season. I believe it is just a made up number based upon estimated salary caps, and them wanting to get their client as much is available.

Me too. Especially the defensive side which is clearly taken in to account here.
