I'm not wild about Hedo, but I have to think he'd at least improve the team. If Rudy can't handle his team being improved by bringing in proven NBA players, ship him to a team in the East where he can be "the man" and win 20 games.

I'm not saying I believe this report, however. If it's not true, I fully expect Rudy to accept whatever role he is given next year and to perform well in it.

    Rudy Mad About Turk?

SORRY - DIDN"T SEE OTHER POSTS, MY BAD>

What's this about? I'm not even clear about why Rudy is would be upset about Turg coming to the team.

    http://www.blazersedge.com/

"Portland's pursuit of a certain player from Turkey has infuriated the Trail Blazers' lone remaining Spanish player, Rudy Fernandez, to the point where he'd prefer to play in Greece, Russia or even Spain again, ESPN.com learned Tuesday.

A league source told ESPN.com that Fernandez has already been courted informally by European powerhouses Olympiacos, Real Madrid, FC Barcelona and CSKA Moscow as word spread that the Blazers had become the apparent front-runners to land free agent Hedo Turkoglu.
    ...

The Blazers have been made aware of Fernandez's feelings, the source said. The source added that Fernandez has not formally requested a trade but has expressed his dissatisfaction with the way he was used by Portland coach Nate McMillan over the course of his rookie season."

Agreed. This pretty much sums up my feelings about this situation. I can't believe we're dealing with something like this...ugh...

$10M for an aging player that is inconsistent, isn't really efficient and is surely declining.

I honestly don't get what KP is thinking here.

It certainly could be false, but it's not like we saw this on someone's damn twitter page or something. This was on ESPN, and I would bet this source was checked out pretty good before this went to print. Parts could have been taken out of context, but as a whole I'll bet it was pretty accurate.

I agree that Rudy didn't get the most out of his talents, or should I say, his apparant talents, because we only rarely got to see him make a nice pass or penetrate.

But I'm not totally convinced that is McMillen's fault. When Rudy has the ball, it's up to him to decide what to do with it. He didn't penetrate or try to create plays for his teammates. 80% of his shots were 3 pointers. The dude really needs to show he has a more diverse game than that.

There is no guarantee of Webs even being ready for next season.

    And he sucks.

I think the basic question is whether either Rudy or Roy can play enough minutes at the 1 or 3 to give them both starter minutes.

I totally understand where Rudy is coming from (if the rumor is true), and I completely agree that Nate stifles creativity. I think Nate has to become more flexible. And we should work for a star PG, not a 3.

Not to mention he missed at least 70% of his midrange jumpers.

Me too. I could roll with that lineup. Trade Blake and Outlaw for whatever.

I would LOVE this too! More then the former.

    Nope, 1st and 2nd round.

Who is RRubio? Stop being a wussy.

Why? If we can off Rudy and other guys for a top level PG, this makes our team better. Stop having man crushes on all our players.

Again, that would be a cool to run with. But I think Rudy just showed his true loyalty to our team.

    Good point!

Exactly. KP is smarter than this. And I would rather have a loyal 30 year old who just wants to play then a 24 year old crybaby.

I wonder if NJ, Memphis, or Milwaukee would be interested in a deal including Bayless and Fernandez for any of their young point guards.

Adding Turk, keeping Blake, and adding either Sessions, Conley, or Harris would be wonderful turn of events.

In all the ways that count (meaning on the court), Rudy seems like a team player. I don't totally blame him for wanting to start -- it shows his drive. That said, it's far more important to be on the floor at the end of the game when it's all on the line. If he's on the floor at those times (and I expect he generally will), he'll be happy.
