You guys are all nuts for thinking the ariza is better than hedo let alone ANY SF on our team! Id rather start martell than ariza. HE IS A LAKER FOR CHRIST SAKE!
Which is his good year? 08-09, when his PER was 15.5? Or 07-08, when his PER was a combined 16.1? Or 06-07, when his PER was 16.2? He's had three straight solid seasons. Nothing spectacular, but he's only 24 (turned it the day before yesterday) and he's known primarily as a defender, so his above-average PERs are more impressive to me. I might prefer Ariza over Hedo at a similar price. It's a close call, but I think Ariza's youth, superior defense and superior PER make him a more valuable player. Ed O.
PER is impressive, but that is just numbers. Is he a good fit with portland? I highly doubt it. Beef in the locker room with the whole being a laker/push on rudy. He is far to over rated. He should not be getting anything higher than a role players contract, MLE. I saw somewhere that a team was going to offer him in the 30-40 millions! CRAZY
Getting Ariza after missing out on Hedo would be like getting kicked in the nuts after being stood up on a dinner date. Fuck that. Ariza played ok last season, but not all that great. Too much money for too little return.
It's been widely publicized that this year was his breakout season, and his PER was not previously reflective of his actual production. Hell, Orlando traded him Brian Cook. Hedo can handle the ball, pass, and run the pick and roll as effectively as a guard. He adds a completely new facet to our SF spot and can take defensive pressure away from Roy. Ariza can't. He's primarily a spot up shooter on offense, and a defender who is similar to Batum (DRTG of 102 as opposed to 107 for Nic, or even 104 for Hedo). He's definitely not worth $8 million per year. Webster received a deal worth $20 million for 4 years. Ariza is rumored to get on in the $32/4 or $40/5 deal. Think Bobby Simmons. Use the ["code"] ["/code"] tags and just paste the stats in between. Did Batum actually average 10 points a game last year? I didn't think it was that high. We better hang on to this kid.
"PRE" as in Preformatted. It's to the right of the "Glossary" and "CSV" (another formatting option) links right above the stats. Stats are for per 36 minutes.
I dont want Ariza at the price he wants. He doesnt bring that much more to the table than Batum and Webster will IMO. And that doesnt factor in Rudy playing the 3 sometimes.
Thinking about it, I think you are closer than I was. It was something like 4 years/$20 mil. To be comparable to what Ariza is looking for, it would have to have been 4 years/$24-$25 mil.
