Players that play good defense but don't get many blocks or steals are underrated in it, and players that play no defense are overrated relative to average defenders. I'll let you guess which camp Zach is in. I think, though, that many Blazers fans are emotionally attached to Aldridge and repulsed by Zach. Randolph is a superior player to Aldridge in many ways... especially rebounding and scoring the basketball, which heavily influence PER. Ed O.

Randolph is very productive, and PER is a measure of productivity. Randolph is really bad at defense and PER doesn't attempt to measure that in any meaningful way.
