I talked myself into Hedo. But if he doesn't sign, I guess it's no great biggie. But we do need another creator and tall passer. We DON'T need Trevor Ariza (that rumor is stupid). But really, why not Lamar Odom? We actually need a backup 4 more than we need a 3, and Odom can play both. He's a very good rebounder, a very good defender, he's every bit the ball handler and passer that Turkoglu is, and he certainly looked like a 3-point shooter in the playoffs. And it would screw the Lakers (much more than signing Ariza)? Why not offer him a contract if Turkoglu turns us down? He's actually got a lot of the same pluses and is a better defender and rebounder. And unlike Artest, whom other people are strangely clamoring for, he is very unselfish and non-black-holish on O.

He is my most hated Laker since Rick Fox. It would be hard for me to root for him, and it probably be even hard for Lamarcus to play alongside him.

I was actually thinking the same thing the other day. If we're going to add a Laker, I would definitely prefer him to Ariza due to his versatility and skillset. He isn't a great 3 point shooter either at a career 31% but at least he is not a chucker anymore. He's very efficient and also gives you the same production in the playoffs. His ability to be a very good backup 4 would also mean killing two birds with one stone.

Unfortunately he would never come here.

And then there's the chemistry issue.

Lamar is one of the more inconsistent players in the league. We'd hate him within the first week for being lazy.

"Do people know how good Lamar Odom is?"

    Apparently not.

    Re: Really: why NOT Odom?

Ariza would be a WAY better fit than Odom.

We're not looking for punks, with a "me-first" attitude that comes to play every 5th game. We don't need a guy who demands playing time but is scared to take the big shot.

Odom represents everything this franchise is trying to get away from.

    Re: Really: why NOT Odom?

Much like Artest and his checkered past, Odom's inconsistency is the only reason he would be: a) possibly available, and b) not a max contract. That said, I doubt he'll leave LA, given his expressed desire to stay there.

I dunno, couple years ago? No way. He seems to be maturing and growing out of his shitty attitude. If there was not much else left, I would consider it.

    8 mil range.

What "me first attitude"? I don't see it. He's probably the least selfish person for his talent set in the league. Okay, apart from LeBron James. And Roy. But he also has the best +/- numbers on the Lakers. Think on that.

    Re: Really: why NOT Odom?

Odom made 14 million last year. (Although 3 million was paid early 3 years back) I can see him taking a cut to stay with the Lakers, but how much do you plan on offering him?

That just shows how flawed +/- is, but yeah he is a pretty mellow guy and he'll fit well anywhere. I just get frustrated with his lack of certain skills this far into his career (lack of some post moves, developing his right hand, mid range game, erratic 3-point shooting).

You'll miss him if he goes, and you get to see a lot more Andrew Bynum playing C and a lot less Pau Gasol playing C.

Well I want a healthy Andrew playing C, but I want LO around over Trevor just in case Bynum is hurt again. Nothing against Ariza, good luck to him.

Certainly the Lakers will offer at least the measley 8 million we have to offer him. Seems like a waste of time and energy.

    Me first attitude?

Are you sure you're talking about Odom?

You just made yourself S2's *edited* of the day with such a silly comment.

Yeah, I almost would prefer Odom over Hedo. Better defender and rebounder. Almost as good a passer. Would fit much better in the Nate (yawn) offense. I think he would mesh better. Could also move over to the 4 and allow Batum/Webster some minutes.
