The Raptors defense continue to be abysmal. No big men with any defensive paint presence whatsoever.

Bargnani, Bosh, Hedo, Calderon are skilled offensively, but average or mediocre defensively.

The move is okay. Turk is 30 making $10M+ and the Raptors are still quite far from contention. I don't know the future with Bargnani but this will definitely be eating into his minutes.

We should trade Bargs. If this is Colangelo trying to make a push, I think the time is now. Maybe trade him to the Sixers for Dalembert and one other guy?
I can't really think of anything because our salary situation is kinda messed.

dalembert is the definition of one dimensional plus he looks so brittle. if i was colangelo i trade caledron because he's proved to be the least durable and he makes our offense too predictable. again the trade to be made is caledron for blake and bo outlaw.

Marion isn't coming to Orlando, unfortunately. A sign and trade may still go through but it's looking less likely.

I'd love to get Calderon on my Blazers for Blake and TRAVIS Outlaw. I didn't realize Jose was available.

Edit: Blake and Travis are both on expiring contracts so if they work well you could resign them but if not you'd have the flexibility to go in a different free agent direction next offseason.

He's not. deception just isn't a big fan of him. In reality, Calderon, Bargnani, and Bosh are Colangelo's core and the most likely to be traded is Bosh (only if the team tanks in the first half of this season).

Dalembert is the kind of guy that could make or break the team. He's a better defensive player and down low guy than Bargnani, and our team badly needs a guy like that.

However Dalembert makes like 5 mill more than Bargs.

We badly need some guy down low who can block shots, and get occaisonal dunks down low.

whats a down low guy? is he a better covert homosexual than bargs?

i dunno what provokes u to think dalembert is better than bargnani- was it dalembert's mental meltdown as part of the canadian national team? is it his non-existent offensive game? how about his injury woes? or how he fell out of favour with successive philly coaching staffs?

Dalembert's a much better help defender than Bargnani. That's really the only area where I feel he is head and shoulders above Andrea. Otherwise, Bargs' man-to-man D is rapidly improving and his offensive game is infinitely better than Dalembert's.

I wouldn't be averse to trading Bargnani if the right package came back, but the risk you run with doing that is banking too much on Bosh staying past this season. Trading away a promising youngster like Andrea for "win now!" players really ends up being a terrible move if Bosh leaves and you have to blow it up anyways. I know a lot of people have ragged on the Turkoglu signing for the same reason, but Hedo can be a decent fixture on this team while it's being blown up, ensuring that the roster is completely unwatchable during that span.

As I said, Dalembert is a make or break guy, he can be selfish and be disruptive to the team.

However the Raptors badly need a big, that actually plays big. Dalembert has been pissed in the past about not getting minutes, and really we would be happy giving him 40 mpg at center considering what else we have.

Maybe if we had KG, we wouldn't need a strong rebounding center, with shot blocking. However Bosh and Bargnani aren't great defenders, nor a presence in the paint to come over and block shots.

That is the Raptor's biggest hole.

the raptors biggest hold is that spanish matador we have playing the pg spot who provides no resistance defensively and who simply does not take chances offensively.

Some RealGM poster translated a recent interview with Turkoglu:
    Link

My only question is about the last bit:
THEN WHY THE FUCK DIDN'T WE OFFER THE SAME AMOUNT OF MONEY?!?! I know its only a percentage of a million per year, but when you're as pushed up against the cap as we are, why wouldn't you take every opportunity to create more space?
