http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=4312517 If Bargs is worth 5years/50million, I have a feeling Aldridge's agent is going to try to get the max.
LMA is going to get at least $12 million/per, and a max contract seems likely considering he's exactly what Pritchard likes in a player.
Brandon will be maxed at $14.4m. LaMarcus will get between $11m and 12m. It's the raises I'm interested in.
10 million a year for a 7'0" footer who averages 5 boards a game and who can't guard anybody. Oh, but he has a nice touch . . . better lock him up with a fat contract. Unbelievable.
I expect to see LMA get 5 years 65-70 million after this. I believe the max is 5 years and 80 million if not more. (I can never remember after they restructured from 6/7 year contracts to 5/6 year contracts in 2005).
This is the same team that just signed Hedo Turkoglu for 5/$53 million. I'll be eternal grateful for that Colangelo signing, by the way.
Wow 50 million for a below average starter with a 14.5 PER, A 7 footer that gets 5 RPG in over 30 minutes, plays bad defense and can't guard any position in the NBA. It's as if Colangelo thinks paying him big money will make him a better player. Toronto is going to be a doormat for at least the next half-decade.
Hey, congrats to LaMarcus for making at least a couple extra mil per due to Toronto's stupidity. LA should send Colangelo flowers, a fruit basket or something.
Still not a "chump", I'd say 8 mil is over paying, but he's still a good player. I kinda wonder at BC's decision to do this now as opposed to later in the off-season.
Look at it this way - would a long, acrimonious negotiation with Bargs have helped them keep Bosh? If they can con Bosh into believing that this (and the Hedo signing) represent a team willing to spend money to win, it could be worth it. It's a huge gamble on a symbolic gesture....but what else have they got?
