Schwartz: We want 10 million Kupchak: 7-8 million. Schwartz: We want 10 million. Kupchak: Okay, show me an offer. Schwartz: ... Lee: We want 8-9 million. Kupchak: MLE money. Lee: We want 8-9 million. Kupchak: Show me an offer. Lee: Lakers do not appreciate my client, we will look elsewhere, Lakers may not have a chance to speak to my client again. (signs to MLE contract) Mitch is playing his cards right. Lamar was in vacation this whole summer, but he returns to LA this week. I expect the negotiating to go quicker now, hopefully, with Lamar back. Just get this done.
LOL, Lee is just a bar room joke. Anyways, I agree, Mitch did the right thing in not going for the bullshit proposal of Lee.
Lamar being on vacation doesn't really matter, imo. He is going to be involved in contract talks no matter what. He was in Vegas. So was Delonte West, LeBron, Ariza, and a bunch of other NBA players, agents, and staff. I'm sure he handled a few meetings in Vegas.
Good point, but I think with him back in LA, he can just focus on business and both sides can work more efficiently to get a deal done. Who knows though, hopefully this is done soon, I hate waiting.
A deal will be done, I just hope it is a multi-year deal and not ridiculous. Basically, Odom is playing with no chips. It is like a game of chess when you can move your King for so long before it finally gets caught up. Mitch has 100% leverage here. Odom is just wasting time now. He has absolutely no market value with teams with cap space.
