Or, Roy holds out of camp and forces a trade in October to a team that has the sense to extend him before October 31st. I'm not seeing how allowing your franchise/All-Star player to go an entire season without a contract for the next year is a good business move in the long-term.

Anything is possible. That's pretty out there, though.

I expect a deal to be struck this off-season. But negotiating, when tens of millions of dollars are on the line, is far from unreasonable.

How do you know it's an issue when all signs pointing toward these contract extension talks continuing to be dragged out for our franchise player are being painted by people with a financial interest in getting the largest and longest contract possible?

I did not enjoy the interview and it is evident that Roy's agent orchistrated the interview and leaked the info to Quick to get the fans in a uproar and to gain the upperhand. All's fair in love and war. Good move by Roy's camp.

However keep in mind that KP and BROY have a very good relationship so I am sure they will work it out. Both are doing their jobs. KP just can't say "what ever you want BROY" and them turn around and negotiate with LMA. KP's leverage is hurt by both of them having the same lawyer IMO. And to give them both the MAX so easily is tough. But to say that it is an ego thing with KP, is fucking ignorant.

    (A) Did you listen to the Roy interview?

    (B) Is 25 year-old, 2nd team All-NBA, two-time All-Star Brandon Roy worth a 5-year max contract?

I'm a yes on (A), and a HELL YES on (B). I side with the Blazers on pretty much everything, including their lack of moves in the past year, but this one? I can't do it. My Kool-Aid isn't THAT strong of a batch.

All right man.. just keep pretending everything is all rosy around here, and we've been adhering to Plan A this entire offseason, KP is getting exactly what he's wanted so far, and everyone is happy and there are no issues.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
Why? You said that he'll definitely be offered a 5 year, max deal next season as an RFA. Portland just has to match and they have him for 5 more years.

Or, you're placing the "risk" on him holding out and forcing a trade? So why did you claim I "challenged you on something you didn't say" when I attributed to you the belief that Roy "might" hold out and force a trade?

Blazers also have a finacial interest in this negotations . . . I guess we can't trust what the agent say, waht Roy says or what KP says about the contract extention talks

It's been less than a week, for Christ's sake. If a deal hasn't been signed by August 1st, I might get a little bit worried. Lamarcus may hold a grudge about not being given his first asking price, but Brandon certainly won't.

You asked where Roy said he may hold out. I merely gave options of what Roy may decide to do to maximize his leverage. He "might" decide to do that, other players have, so to say there is "ZERO RISK" is false IMO.

Nothing has a zero possibility, not even New Orleans trading Chris Paul to Portland for Bayless and Fernandez. But many things are close enough to zero that it's reasonable to call it "zero." I think the chances that Roy will hold out and demand a trade, because Portland offered 4 years instead of 5, qualifies under that.

Quick is going a little bit far with his theory that Paul Allen is getting mentally ill or unstable or sick.

There's nothing for Quick to "make it seem..." BRoy already did that.

That still doesn't mean there is "zero risk". Thanks for proving my point.

    Hyperconclusionarianism can be fun!

Everything may not be rosy, but it's certainly not covered in horse shit, either. We're probably on about Plan D or E. KP wanted Hedo, and in hindsight, is relieved (as am I) that he didn't get him because now we know that Hedo doesn't care anywhere near as much about being on a winning team as he cares about getting paid. Everyone is happy, including Brandon. There are varying degrees to happiness, you know. There are indeed issues, but none that can't be worked through amicably.

Give me a week, I may agree with him. Can Qyntel Woods still be maxed?
