How would you rate the Millsap offer sheet?

    21.9%
  2. It's a good move, but Utah will match.

    63.0%
  3. It's an irrelevant move.

    1.4%
  4. I don't know how I feel about it.

    9.6%
  5. It's a bad move because we'll be tied up for a week before Utah matches.

    0 vote(s)
    0.0%
  6. It's a terrible move. Don't need him, it'll piss Aldridge off, &/or Millsap will make too much money

    1.4%
  7. Other (why?)

    2.7%

This feels like a Trenton Hassell-like poll to make, but I gotta do it.

How do you feel about the offer sheet that the Blazers offered to Millsap? And why?

Here's the initial analytical document that I created last night to facilitate discussion. :)

I enjoy the camp factor of it, and since I spent 30 minutes or whatever I did making it, I can at least make sure more people "enjoy" it.

You should have used a Google Docs presentation. Easier to share for all of us dying to see your slide deck.

I think it's a good move, not sure if Utah will match or not though. If they do, it still forces them to move Boozer for less than he's worth, possibly to Portland's benefit. If they don't match, Portland gets a very talented young player on a reasonable contract. Win-win.

I like it. From an age point and quite possibly, willingness to play for the team - it is actually better than the Turk move - and I liked the Turk move (other than the long duration).

I'm somewhere between options 1 and 2. I like the move, not sure whether Utah will end up matching.

Utah will find a way to dump Boozer and match the offer.

I'd love to believe Utah isn't going to match, but I feel that is something of a longshot. If we somehow do get him then I will at least be excited that Travis Outlaw isn't our backup 4 anymore and I'll be even more excited if KP can turn around and turn Outlaw and Joel into a high quality wing (Battier, etc.) or can turn Blake and Joel into a substantial upgrade at the point guard spot (Stephon Marbury ... :devilwink:)

If we can land him, he'd be an awesome pickup.

He's a 24 y/o PF, who can be a legit starting PF on most teams, is coming in with the mindset as a willing backup. He put up 17/10 as a starter.

The talent is there and he's exactly what we need.

Boozer was out the entire month of December and Millsap showed his worth:

    11 pts 10 rebs
    22 pts 10 rebs
    24 pts 13 rebs
    18 pts 12 rebs
    32 pts 10 rebs
    14 pts 14 rebs
    17 pts 12 rebs
    15 pts 10 rebs
    20 pts 12 rebs
    17 pts 11 rebs
    20 pts 13 rebs
    13 pts 11 rebs

He also shot 60% from the field during this stretch.

The guy is a walking double double. The price is reasonable. It's really a no lose for you guys. Even if the Jazz match, it still puts them in a crummy financial bind.

I hope Utah matches, he's a great player but I don't understand over paying for a back-up PF when we need a starting PG and SF.

If this was the last and only move then yes it would be a head scratcher, but if KP can somehow move Pryz and possibly one of Outlaw or Blake to address either the point guard position or the small forward position then it creates an opportunity to play Oden, LMA and Millsap in a 3 player front-court rotation with guys like Millsap and Oden probably getting about 30-32 minutes apiece (Oden because of likely foul trouble and possible injuries, Millsap because he's kind of undersized as a backup 5) and LMA getting his usual 36. To round it out you keep Pendergraph around as some emergency depth and for spot minutes as a backup forward/center.

I'm hoping it's a sign and trade, Millsap for Hinrich.

Not possible, only Utah can sign and trade Millsap.

Those of you who think Utah won't match are going to be quite disappointed.

I'd love a 3 man rotation up front, but like you said Millsap is to small to play the 5 and Joel and Oden are too large to play the 4. I guess LMA could easily swing from 4 to 5 and as a outside player would match up well playing with any one of those bangers.
