You and I may be the only two on this board that know about Stokes and what happened to him. As an aside note, do you know that his teammate and best friend Jack Twyman legally adopted Stokes so that he could care for him?
He should have just stayed in Orlando for the $9 million a year extension. Is $10.6 million a year in Toronto really worth leaving Orlando for? Not going to work out the numbers exactly. But if you start calculating the taxes, the actual take home money isn't going to be all that different. Orlando = 9 * (1 - .35 - .04 - .06/2) = $5.22 million take home money. (First decimal is the national income tax, the second number is the agent fee, and the third the average state income tax for road games). Toronto = 10.6 (1 - .35 - .04 - .06/2 - .09/2) = $5.67 million take home money. Numbers aren't exact. Just some estimates on the average state income tax and the toronto tax (have no idea what it actually is, but there is some weird signing bonus thing with canada, that makes the end affect closer to a US state income tax, otherwise, layers would absolutely hate to play in Toronto because of the massive amount they'd be taxed). PG-Jameer Nelson SG-Vince Carter SF-Hedo Turkoglu PF-Rashard Lewis C- Dwight Howard If he wanted to win a championship, while still becoming filthy rich, he would have signed there. But winning isn't everyone's number one priority. $1.7 million or so of extra take home money over the next four years is still a lot of money.
I know Canadians pay a lot more taxes. He will regret this in a year or two...enjoy your long summers
I recall reading that. We should all be so lucky as to have a man like Twyman for a friend! As for the Royals (as an organization)....their rather indifferent attitude toward the situation will always be a blot on the franchise.
Clearly he must love the city of Toronto and has given a move their high priority for some time, also refer to my comment above about his pic needing a thought bubble with a giant vagina and prison bars in front of it; I'm guessing Banu was threatening to close up shop unless they moved there
