Nice to see Millsap is worth "loose change", but Roy has to go pleading to the public in the media for "loose change".

Wow, how "selfish" of Millsap. How will he coexist with "selfish" Brandon Roy?

I hope so... but I don't really see anything in that report showing that Utah has softened their stance.

My apologies if this has been discussed on one of the previous 14 pages...

Have signing bonuses like that always been allowed? I don't think I've ever seen it before... How exactly are we allowed to do that, as it would seem that is about $4M more than the cap space we have available this year?

Yes you can. Essentially, Millsap is worth 20 million this year. (After lux tax)

So, does this kill our chances of landing Deron Williams? :drumroll:

Not at all, I'm sure all KP has to do is dangle Travis Outlaw, Martell Webster and Steve Blake in front of O'connor and a cool million in cash to make it happen

Reading Milsap's representatives quotes, it is clear that Milsap choose Ptd for one reason . . . the money. Not the city, or his role on the team or the fact Ptd is an up and coming team, it all came down to the money.

Strange . . . they wine and dine their #1 target and try to sell him on the town, his role the Blazers chances at a championship, and then give him an offer that some team tops. Milsap they just flat out laid out the cash (Paul Allen style with a boatload coming in right away) . . . Milsap signs, and Utah (who swore they would match any offer) is now wondering what to do.

That's Paul Allen style and why this small market team can stands up among the giants.

$8m/per for Millsap is a bargain.

If they balked at the $8m/per asking price, do you really expect them to pay the $6.5m signing bonus?

I think that is dirt cheap for what this guy can bring to our squad. He already said he's cool with backing up LA! Hope this works out!

It is funny how Millsap is potentially doing the same thing that Hedo did..going for the most dough.

And I doubt any of us would be that upset if he came here under those circumstances.

The real question is, will they be able to unload Boozer?.
If Utah can unload Boozer somehow and take back only 4 mil or so, then they match us. If they can't unload Boozer, I will be real surprised if they match.

Hedo agreed to sign with PDX and a contract was worked out. He even chose his playing number. That is what he did wrong, not deciding to go to another team. He gave a verbal commitment and then backed out.

and by the way, i don't even blame turk for backing out. Others are pissed at turk, but I would have also chosen a bigger offer, especially if the wife insisted on living in city X. Until the contract is signed, all options are on the table. I understand why others are mad, I just don't agree they should be.

Interesting thought. If he can hit the corner three, why not play him at the 3/4 in a Jamison type of role?
