Ah, strange. I felt I did address his post. I disagreed with two of his points, that people are telling others what to think and that a majority of people on this forum don't consider Roy worth a max deal.

We've since talked that through quite amicably. :)

I noticed that. Minstrel: "All I can say is that alex will be here for a long time." ;)

Depends on who you ask. What are your feelings on the Blazers off-season, dear Toko? :)

Does it? How do you assess the off-season up to today?

Mildly disappointing, so far, in that no big deal that helps Portland has happened. If Utah fails to match and Portland ends up with Millsap, I'll consider it a fantastic off-season.

I guess we have different interpretations of "fantastic" if Millsap is the only player signed/extended this offseason.

Well, I think Millsap is extremely underrated. He's the same age as Aldridge, he's been nearly as productive in terms of PER (comparing raw stats is problematic considering Millsap has been behind Boozer, but his raw stats when Boozer was out last year were great) and he's a very good defender.

He doesn't have as high a ceiling as Aldridge, in my opinion, but getting a slightly-lesser version of Aldridge is a pretty impact addition. It would be nice if he played a position not already occupied by one of the "big three," but it creates a lot of trade flexibility in the future.

Also, I expect Roy and Aldridge to be extended, so that probably factors into our dissimilar outlooks.

I don't see signing an unversatile back-up PF for $11 million this year in a "toxic" offer as a "fantastic" deal considering LMA plays 36 minutes at that position. As a starter? Sure. I value Roy more than I value Paul Millsap in terms of money being spent wisely.

I'd look to trade Przybilla and get Millsap 30+ minutes per game in a three-man front court rotation with Aldridge and Oden. Przybilla (along with other players) could net a nice point guard or small forward.

I value Roy more, too. I don't think it's a choice between Roy and Millsap, though.

If Millsap does come here it definitely makes Przybilla expendable. It is highly likely he opts out next year as he could get a little bit more money and with some more years added which will be hurt if Greg progesses as expected. If Greg becomes the 30-34 minute player we expect then Joel is going to play at most 18-14 minutes a game, but even less because LMA slides over and plays the 5 for about 3-5 minutes a game some nights. So that would cut Joel down to more about a 12-15 minute player a game since he cannot play power forward.

Signing Millsap who can play some spot minutes against centers in some matchups, and can play with both LMA when LMA is at the five and Greg makes us more versatile than with Joel here. I love Joel, he has been a great contributor to our team, a stand up citizen, and our tough guy who stands up for his teammates. But he will be looking for a new contract next year that wont be a good value to us with his minutes (if everything goes as expected), it is likely he will want to start or play more than 12-15 minutes a game, he has awful hands and his man usually pays little attention to him on the offensive end which makes us play 4-5.

If Millsap comes you have to strongly consider the possibility of adding Joel to a Blake/Outlaw package to sweeten it. If we could bring in an upgrade at SF or PG with that package you have to do what is best for the team long-term.

I do when Leiweke states he's been told to break even within the next two years so Paul Allen doesn't have to "subsidize" the Blazers being located in Portland. Knowing that, $11 million on a back-up PF makes even less sense. Funny how no one will touch that thread.

That sounds about right considering your posts on the matter.

Lay off the cool-aid man, the blazers season so far has sucked. Here, let's see what some other western contenders have done so far:

Spurs:added Mcdyse+RJ. This basically puts them back into contention.
Mavs:Gortat+Shawn Marion. This greatly improves them, and they already own the blazers.
Nuggets:Retained their core, which is still a lot better than the blazers.
    Lakers:Upgraded with Artest.

You have to make moves to be relevant. Blazers haven't done shit.

Well, if such an objective soul as you feels that way...I'll have to re-evaluate. Now I don't know what to think!

You're right, the Blazers offseason has pretty much sucked. It reminds me of your typical posts.
