    Hm... No mention of Frye.

Doesn't say where Prince would have landed. Ric Bucher said a deal sending Prince to POR and Boozer to DET was dead a few days ago.

I don't want to get my hopes up, but things are sounding good. If Paul becomes a Blazers, we won't be pushed around/out hustled in the Playoffs.

    Crossing my fingers and toes.

If this actually finalizes, it's sort of Jermaine O'Neal in reverse, isn't it? We actually ADD a starting quality, young backup power forward.

Everyone who has ever used the argument that we shouldn't trade Sergio/Webster/Telfair/Rudy/Bayless/whomever because it could be The Next Jermaine O'Neal should love this acquisition.

I'm not worried at all about minutes. You get a guy like Milsap and then plan on trading Przybilla or Milsap or Aldridge down the road for a different piece. In the meantime, all of these bigs are lunchpail guys who really aren't going to squawk to the media about reduced roles. Especially if we win as much as I think we will with this kind of a big man rotation.

Depends if Joel gets traded or not.

If not, then hell yeah the Blazers won't get pushed around.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
Yup, minus the giving up anything part. ;)

I would be absolutely thrilled if we got Millsap. I think people are really underestimating Millsap. He's the same age as Aldridge, produced nearly as well and is a good defender. Essentially the only thing differentiating him from Aldridge is that his size/athleticism probably means he doesn't have quite the upside.

Still, adding a player who's a slightly lesser version of Aldridge...for a decent salary and without giving up any talent? How is that not an incredible win for the off-season?

Four years ago Paul Milsap would've been the best player on our team.

I don't know if I should laugh or cry.

He also can't create his own shot like Aldridge can. Millsap was ast'd on 65% of his pts, Aldridge 57%.

Aldridge is a much more complete offensive player. Millsap really thrived in Utah because Utah was #1 in pace factor in the NBA last year.

edit - Utah was #1 for playoff teams, 10th overall.

Although I agree with you, those numbers don't really help your argument. Those percentages are so close. We need a banger out of our backup PF, not a scorer. Thats why Milsap is going to be a great fit if for some reason Utah doesn't match. Too bad they will...

    Aldridge - 57%
    Bosh - 53%
    Dirk - 56%
    Gasol - 57%
    Amare - 57%

    Millsap - 65%

There's obviously a noticeable difference here.

My point was he can't create his own shot like Aldridge can, who can create his own shot from 15+ feet whenever he wants.

Millsap is good, don't get me wrong, but Aldridge is the superior player. Aldridge works well in any style of offense while Millsap really thrives off of an up-tempo offense, and probably not as much as say uh.....Portland's offense.

It's crazy to think how BAD our roster was:

    Steve Blake
    Juan Dixon
    Jarrett Jack
    Viktor Khryapa
    Voshon Lenard
    Darius Miles
    Sergei Monia
    Travis Outlaw
    Ruben Patterson
    Joel Przybilla
    Zach Randolph
    Theo Ratliff
    Ha Seung-Jin
    Brian Skinner
    Charles Smith
    Sebastian Telfair
    Martell Webster

    Yuck!

Some people just live and die by percentages like they are the tell all. I am a huge baseball fan above all else and numbers are what that game is about. I just get so sick of hearing numbers spitted out like they actually tell the whole story. They are only as good as they are current. I don't look at them and think about the possibilities of the next season, because shit happens.

Aldridge is the superior player, but it's not a huge disparity. If Portland were signing an Aldridge clone, how excited would we all be? Millsap is a little bit worse, but the excitement is WAY below what that mythical "clone of Aldridge" would generate.

Millsap is likely not a go-to guy. Aldridge isn't, either, yet, but might be in the near future. That's the main difference between them to me. But Millsap can create his own offense, just at a slightly lower level than Aldridge. More interestingly for Portland, Millsap tends to generate his offense near the hoop, while Aldridge is more of a high-post player. That suggests that a Aldridge/Millsap unit could be pretty complementary, lending further credence to the idea of an Oden/Aldridge/Millsap front court rotation.

I can't even fathom the idea of Roy not being a Blazer past next year.

This off-season, so far, has been an epic failure on KP, Penn, Allen's part.

Paul Millsap will erase that if we can land him. Landing a player of his caliber for $8m/per would be amazing.

From the Salt Lake Tribune's Jazz twitter feed:

Nothing new to us, but interesting that those plugged in from the Jazz's end are hearing this as well.
