I heard Orlando is going to trade Gortat after matching him. Makes sense, and good move for them if true. Obviously people value him in the league for whatever reason, trading him for another piece only makes them stronger.

Not that I really care though. Boston/Cleveland/Orlando can have fun killing themselves.

What are they going to trade him for? They won't get anything of major significant value for him, IMO.

They have to wait until December to trade him, I guess they thought they could sucker the Mavs into something.

Magic are almost at $80M. Pretty crazy summer for Otis Smith. Overspending got him fired in Golden State.

They are due to give out 83 million for ten players next year too. I wonder how they can afford that Shape?

I've calculated that if they use the MLE next year, and get two other minimum contracts to get to 13 players, they'll have a 115 million dollar payroll (due to the new Luxury Tax threshold around 65 million next off-season).

It seems Otis Smith and ownership feel they can win it all right now and have a young enough core to play championship level for the next few seasons. If they don't win it all it could go south real quick for Otis & Orlando.

I like the aggressive approach though. Majority of teams are still holding out until next summer to make any serious moves, but Orlando is taking advantage this year. Boston isn't getting any younger and if LeBron leaves Cleveland then Orlando remains on top of the East for years to come.

I guess most teams are facing the fact that very few, if not all FA's are probably gonna sign with their teams seeing as almost no team can give them a max contract.
