Yeah.. the guy just finished a 6-year, $63 million contract. And $9 mil per for three years seems pretty reasonable at his age. Don't know why he isn't learning from the Ariza situation. His agent is blowing it.

I hope he ends up with a team in the East for too much money. I would rather have him not helping the Lakers or another team that's a threat to our HCA quest...

He didn't instigate a fight, he came to a teammate's defense. The 6er that threw a sucker punk at Gross was the obvious instigator. You didn't tell the whole story is the problem. Matter of fact the next game Lucas went and shook hands with the same player that had hit Gross. Far from a punk. Lucas was and is a class act. You either know very little about what happen or are just twisting the facts to try to fit your argument not caring about the truth.

I would love to get Odom. He absolutely seems like a good guy. He is versatile and he has championship experience. Plus, if the Lakers lose Odom, they're not good enough to repeat. Win, win!

And I remember when Blazer employees would say if you only knew how really nice Bonzi and Sheed and Darius were...

Lamar Odom is a punk. He always has been a punk and always will be one. There's a reason we haven't tried to swing a deal for him.

Oh, I think LMA's elbow would mesh nicely with Odom's teeth.

The only problem I have with Odom is that he is the most inconsistant player I have ever seen. He can play 35 minutes with zero pionts and 1 rebound, then play like an all-star the next night. I read he nearly drove Jackson to drink.

I have actually had the opportunity to meet Odom, and he was as nice as he could be. Not fake nice either, but just genuinely a nice guy. I think more than anything it is a character he plays on the court, like Laimbeer or a wrestler. He is an agitator and a jackass on the floor, but off of it he is different. I don't think I remember seeing anything written about him as being a bad teammate either. Don't most all of his teammates like him?

Your characterization of Mo demonstrates that you either never saw him play, or you don't understand the role of the enforcer in the pre-Tomjanovich/Washington NBA.

I've been a fan of Odom since his Rhode Island then Clipper days... and I say NO THANKS to him as a Trail Blazer. When he gives it 100% he's damn good, but he doesnt do that on a consistent basis. I'm also not sure he fits in with our character... many years ago he was busted for having some hippie lettuce. I do like his game and I think we could really use his toughness/dont fuck with me attitude. I'm just not sure he's worth the cash/years he wants when he doesnt bring it on a consistent basis.

Bah. It would be hard... but I could get used to it. If he would play backup 3 and 4.

I have a funny feeling that he's going to end up back on the Clippers through a sign-and-trade. Maybe for Camby? After all, the Lakers aren't balking at the AVERAGE salary, just the length of the contract. (Like us with Roy, in fact.)

Where was this legitimately reported? I know a lot of people assumed as much, but what happens in the heat of the moment doesn't always end up with lasting animosity. It's entirely possible it's true, but I'd like more than an assumption to go on.

Re: Odom Available...Make an Offer KP

I wouldn't mind Odom...but not for 5 years, but you could succesfully argue that the 5th year of Odom will be better than the 5th year of Hedo....Odom is a much more versatile player than Hedo is, and can be just as\more inconsistent...but while everyone praises Kobe for the Lakers championship, I saw enough Laker games (particularly in the playoffs) to note that Odom had as much to do with thier success...

I think if POR could work a de-escalating contract...frontloaded with a signing bonus....that went 4 years with a 5th year team option...then I think POR should seriously consider it....

I think he provides an immediate upgrade at SF...he weakens the Lakers...he has some additional incentive against one of our fiercest division rivals...and he adds a lot of versatility...and provides that 3rd scorer and extra facilitator that this team needs....

There is a lot I don't like about Odom, but a lot to like as well...the only scary part for me in POR adding him, is the number of years he wants (5)...if POr can find a way around that, then I think he should be a very viable option....

Re: Odom Available...Make an Offer KP

To get anywhere near the level we'd need to sign him away from the L*kers (around 10M or so, and even then ??) we'd need to move someone. Even if we offered Odom the Hedo special, I think LAL may still match. To front-load it any more actually makes it more palatable for them, IMO. But to do so anyway would entail us sending out players to create more room.

I know it's not an RFA situation, but I can't help feeling that unless the LA offer is blown away, Odom's staying there. Or Miami.
