Just a small update, which surprises and confuses the hell out of me.

LO wants to come back, but his agent is preventing him? Wtf is that? Did he not learn from Trev? Because if this doesn't work out, Jerry Buss will layeth the smackdown. No more big offers, the offers are going down.

Merge this to another thread if you want, but this is worthy of discussion.

 Odom is being punked by his agent.

He is not a man. He can stand up to KG, LaMarcus, but not his agent?

Nah it deserves it's own thread imo.

Anyway yeah it looks like LO blew it big time. I'm starting to think he won't see a better deal at all, and he's pissing us off for no reason.

    Another one bites the dust.

Where are these agents getting their power from?

Time to get rid of the agent. If he signs a different deal he won't have to pay the agent maybe? (4 years 35 million?) Lol. :]

I hear LO's agent is trying to use Dallas/Miami to drive up the price? Seriously, just give it up.

You're gambling with a professional poker player, a 10 time NBA champ. He's not even dealing with Mitch now, he's dealing with Jerry.

Pretty sure Jerry knows what the hell he's doing. He's probably sick and tired, fed up with this bullshit, like we all are. Hence the offers will go down.

How is he going to use Miami to drive up the price? They can only offer the MLE.

Lol his agent is a noob, so is Lamar for going along with this. Didn't he just see what we did with Trevor? Now that we layed the smack down on the negotiations, things should go much more smoothly. I like where we are in these talks.

Make them say they'll give him 5/50 in a sign and trade.

Then LO's agent will run back down to Jerry "OMG Jerry Jerry!!! Miami says they will give Lamar 5/50 in a sign and trade!!!! Thus that is his valuezzzzz. You must offer the samezzzzzz or he is disrespected. "

Do you know how terribly flawed that is? The Lakers have to agree to sign him in order to trade him.

Fucking agents these days. Why won't Odom just tell him to shut his trap and let him negotiate his deal and get this fucking done.

Yep, Odom works for his agent. That was an awesome deal and they turned it down. Saying that he wants to take the offer but can't cause of the agent is just a fucking excuse.

A lot of these articles discussing Odom don't make sense. It would be more believable if the Player's Union was pressuring him not to accept less money, but his agent?

    There's a few possibilities here.

Is the agent playing hardball because he has another offer in the works?
Does Odom want to play on the East Coast?

Jeff Schwartz is a powerhouse agent with a lot of high profiled clients at Excel Sports Management

Interesting to note two of his clients are with the Mavericks (Kidd & Howard). I wonder if he's trying to position Odom to play in Dallas as part of Cuban agreeing to sign Kidd to a favorable deal.

According to Marc Stein both Miami & Dallas have made offers.

Sounds like Odom isn't even in the negotiating room to get this deal done and is leaving it up to his agent to broker his future.

The article also goes on to speculate the Heat could land Odom, trade for Boozer and have a core of Wade-Odom-Boozer in 2010.

I'd trust the LA times on these type of situations over ESPN though.

Florida may not have taxes but Lamar has like a restaurant or something here and other ventures? Plus endorsements/winning. :O

What I think upsets him is the playing time actually, which is why he is trying to stay firm to his demands.

Doesn't sound like the offer is much better than our MLE offer.

No matter what happens, we better not lose him for nothing.

I'm already concerned about our bigs. Pau/Drew is not enough to match up against KG/Perkins/Sheed or Dwight/Lewis/Gortat/Bass, maybe not even Shaq/AV/Z. Especially since nobody know
what Drew can do in a course of the season, and his tendency to rack up fouls.

If anything get some value for him. If he leaves for the MLE our team will definitely be weakened.
