What does the former OSU QB and current Cleveland Brown have to do with anything? All other Derek Anderson's are dead to me.

Who's name shall never mentioned again? Derek Anderson's? Why shouldn't Derek Anderon's name ever be mentioned again? Is there something amiss with Derek Anderson or Derek Anderson's name?

    Glad to help out.

I saw Sessions play a handful of games last year. He was only good in one of them, but his stats show I probably saw games where he didn't play well. Don't you think his stats might be inflated because Milwaukee is terrible? I worry about picking up players from bad teams who haven't been great for three years.

Doesn't that cut both ways? Who's he assisting? If he can generate so many assists with bad teammates, shouldn't he get 'bout a hundred assists per game with Roy, Aldridge and Oden to pass to? ;)

I don't think so. The guy got limited minutes on a very lackluster Bucks team, and yet he dished out assists at an excellent rate. It's not like he's a big time scorer in the mod of Damon Stoudamire to which I would be worried. Although, he did get 44 points in a game. He gets to the free throw line at an excellent rate and knows how to get the ball in the right places. I don't worry about his crappy team, in fact I think it made it a lot harder on him. I'd love to see what he can do with 2 big men in Oden and Aldridge. I hope he's our next target.

That would be ludicrous! Our offensive efficiency would be sky-high!

Not among the teams competing for a ring though. Didn't they all have suprisingly low 3pt %?

    P.S. Longtime Sessions luster-after.

Nope. After the second year of the contract though we would have some wiggle room with the salary

Nope. Orlando and Boston, at least, were very good three-point shooting teams. I'm not sure about Cleveland and LA, off-hand.

    Boston? Do you mean Denver?

    Portland was 4th

    Orlando 6th, Denver 13th, LA 19th

    Pace on the other hand

    Portland was 30th

Denver was 5th, LA was 6th, Orlando was 12th

If you look at a bunch of stats, it looks like Portland really needs help defensively and FTA's more than anything else. We were slightly above average in most categories except FTA's where we finished below average in FT/FG attempted and average in FTA overall.

    Hmm, possibly.

But as far as the importance of three-point shooting, I was thinking of these two articles:

    http://www.basketballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=487

    http://www.basketballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=418

It seems like three point shooting is fairly correlated with offense efficiency...moreso than pace or offensive rebounding. Of course, correlation doesn't always imply causation, but it is interesting.

Oh, it's important, but looking at the stats it doesn't appear that it is that important. Clicking through stats on basketball reference it's funny to see the Blazers. They are in the top 1/3 in most all categories expcept pace and FTA. Also not in anything defensively excpet rebounding.

It seems like the things we need the most improvement at are all Blake related things?

I think on 82games.com I saw that Portland's PG possition was their worst as well.

That and Outlaw related hence why Blake and Outlaw are in every trade rumor :)
