So I'm watching the replay of the Bucks Bulls SL game, and Wheels is helping call the game. He must have spent 10 minutes talking about the Blazers, while the game was going on. Hilarious. Who's playing Wheels? Not the Blazers? Oh well, how bout them Blazers???
I would recommend this game to anyone if you want to hear some old school play by play. Eddie is hilarious.
Wheels said during his show that he would be the guest on that game. They do this all the time to get other teams pre-season info. It can be interesting, unless the guest is from the Clippers. Who cares what they are up to, right?
I'm still trying to block out when Eddie Doucette was the Blazers' TV play-by-play guy. Talk about mailing it in for a paycheck. I'm fairly certain he wasn't aware that he was in Portland on some nights.
I always liked Eddie. The guy was so off the wall sometimes, it would've been hilarious to listen to Eddie and Rice on a broadcast together. They'd probably just go off on so many tangents. He always called Sabas, "The Big Man from Lithuania". Simple but always memorable to me.
Bill wanted to go to TV, and Eddie was hired to replace him on radio. Bill realized how bad he was on TV 2 years later, and went back to radio and Eddie went to TV.
Two more reasons to watch that game: 1. Brandon Jennings is the most entertaining player in Summer League 2. Just before half time they interview the Bucks' GM and ask him about Sessions.
My favorite line from Eddie when he was working for the Blazers: "Looks like he squeezed another one of the the pastry bag." I am not ever going to forget that image. Also "That guy is one spicy sausage!" Eddie was really into food.
My dad always joked about an Eddie-called game sounding like someone trying to describe the Muppet Show to a blind man.
There's a point in the Bucks game where a guy comes in and Eddie said something to the effect of "that guy has a name that looks like the eye chart in my doctors office..."
