Do you mean to tell me Portland won't have the pleasure of playing a back up 8 million a season for the next 4 years? The horror!
Not necessarily. If we were legitimately trying to force Utah's hand into trading Boozer, this is just part of that process. Even if Utah doesn't trade Boozer or we don't benefit from a three-team deal, we still slapped them in the face with a $10.3 million up-front cost they didn't anticipate.
Well, presumably Utah won't worry about the cap and tax hit he'll provide until after next season. My guess is that he's gone within the next 2-3 weeks, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Utah keep him until the trade deadline next February.
I'd like to see that, too, assuming Portland isn't currently working on any sort of three-way deal with Utah. The only reason I think it's possible is the "early matching" on Millsap. If they knew they were about to unload Boozer, there'd be no particular reason to delay matching.
The silence on Sessions is eerie. I can only assume that he is disliked for the same reason that Andre Miller was - he's a true PG (and I heard with my own ears** Pritchard say that "we don't need a traditional point guard" because of, you guessed it, Brandon Roy) and he's a poor shooter. If so, and the Blazers aren't even going to try to get him, I am peeved. Unless they're going after Prigioni or Diamantidis, that is... **interviewed by Rick Kamla at one of the Summer League games.
That's garbage if it's true that the Blazers haven't even inquired about him but we heard before deadline last season that Pritchard was trying to trade for him. I don't know why it would be any different now. I want another player on the court that can create on his own besides Roy. We don't have anyone else at all. Having a true PG would help our team tremendously and Roy would be fine, he worked well with Chris Paul in the all star game didn't he?
I don't necessarily think a pure point is bad, but this statement is literally one of the worst arguments for pairing a pure point with Roy.
Sean May, Ray Felton, Allen Iverson, Ike Diogu ... so many choices left on the menu, I can hardly wait!!
