http://otrsportsonline.com/2009/07/19/76ers-land-kirk-hinrich-andre-miller-to-portland/ Don't how reliable the source is, but I guess I'd be open to the idea of getting Miller at this point. It's basically him or nothing.
That deal would piss me off. Any deal involving Miller and Hinrich should have Hinrich coming here, not Miller. That being said, depending on what else went with Blake, Miller would be an upgrade.
Not sure why it would piss you off. Miller is the superior playmaker, and Hinrich's edge on defense is exagerated by the high percentage of time he spends defending SGs.
Are you serious? Miller could age 10 years overnight and break his hip getting out of bed - and he would still be laughably superior to Blake in getting the ball to Oden/LMA.
Well, Miller is 33 and Hinrich is only 28. I'd much prefer him if I were the Blazers. Also Kirk can shoot the 3 pretty well, although not spectacularly, while Miller does the opposite of space the floor. If I'm a Bulls I'm looking for cap space, but I have a pretty hard time just taking back Blake given the state of the team otherwise. Of course, the Bulls have continued to disappoint me with their moves and I don't think they're really serious about building a winner, so this doesn't mean I think something like this won't go down.
This makes little sense to me. Two things, we could could likely sign Miller easily for 13-14 mil for two seasons and give up no one. Secondly, I think mgmt much prefers Hinrich so why send him to Philly?
He definately does guard his fair share of SG's, but he did make one of the all defensive teams as a starter a PG. He is clearly the best defender listed. You are right about Miller though. People here read Quick and Freeman, and think he is not an upgrade. Portland will still be a very good 3pt shooting team without Blake. Portland with Miller would also be a lot better at getting easy baskets, drawing fouls for and 1's Miller gets more assists, rebounds, steals and even blocks. Miller shoots a better % from the field, and is pretty equal to Blake at the FT line.....Although Blake is better. 3pt% is the only category where Blake stands out, but the key to that stat is that Miller doesn't attempt a lot of 3's. Instead, he attempts almost 4 more FT's a game.
Pressure to make a move? One would think Management would much prefer alomst any other starting PG to Blake, but they haven't appeared to do anything to get one.
What makes little sense to you then; the rumor or my thoughts on it? I would agree the rumor makes little sense. I guess I agree with you that Blazers management would prefer Hinrich and I think he's a better fit for the Blazers than Miller. But sure, if the Blazers can effectively trade Blake for Miller, that's certainly an upgrade for them. If getting Hinrich isn't feasible, then getting Miller is still better than standing pat with Blake. It's just not as good, I think, as lots of folks will be hoping for. Perhaps if the Blazers really have faith in Bayless to take over the position in a couple years though, Miller is a good stopgap. I'm quite skeptical of Bayless working out, but Miller makes sense from that perspective.
What? I don't like this at all. If CHI is agreeable to Blake and Outlaw, PHL doesn't have to be part of this.
I edited my post to add a bit. I think Miller makes some sense as an upgraded stopgap if they really think Bayless is gonna be the cat's ass. I don't think he will be, but if they do, then Miller > Blake in the short run. Still, seems like they should and could get a more long-run option with that cap space.
I dont buy this for a second. No way we deal for Miller. If we are involved in this deal, we get Hinrich not Miller. Miller cant hit the 3 which is important for the PG in our offense. I'd much rather have Blake and his contract than Miller and the contract he wants.
Yeah, I don't know why Portland wouldn't just sign Miller if they wanted him. Maybe they'd still have some cap space doing it this way, but I'd rather have Hinrich if he's any part of the deal. Why trade him to a conference rival?
Thank God you people don't run the blazers! Miller>steve blake jr miller can get into the lane and create. steve blake jr is well steve blake. GET MILLER NOW!
As one of the few people who don't have you on ignore, and an avid hater of most of your posts, I actually agree with you on this. Miller is a lot better than Blake, and I think what some people need to understand is that Millers ability to get into the lane will opn up a ton of wide open looks from 3.
