No. nasically, they can look to sign and trade him, but once he signs an offer sheet, they no longer can. So right now, Sessions, Lee, Marvin Williams, Felton, etc. can all be signed and traded. Utah, after we sent an offer to Millsap, could not have signed and traded Millsap.

    Re: BREAKING NEWS

    I agree completely.

Had Bayless showed more growth as a point guard, Miller would still be looking for a job.

However, Bayless didn't show much growth and Miller is now a Blazer. Hopefully Bayless can use practice time to get better cause he isn't going to see the floor much at all next season.

Oh so now you're talking about your hypothetical team that you run? Or what YOU woudl do if you ran the Blazers? Same as his saying what trades he thought should be made.

    Re: BREAKING NEWS

that throws me off I guess, cause when we "sent" the offer to Millsap, Utah still had not "matched" it, so whose to say they dont S & T him to another team, cause they havent "matched"

*Paging Tom Penn.. you are needed at S2*

    Re: BREAKING NEWS

Right. Quite easily, only if their salary increases by more than 20% they become BYC players and the team that's trading them can only take back their last-year salary or 50% of their new salary, whichever is more.

Portland, with this deal, cannot trade for Lee now. We are no longer below the salary cap to make that happen. Say bye-bye to Lee.

    Re: BREAKING NEWS

You repeatedly had the position that because there were no offers, there was no interest in him so he would have to take the vet minimum. That was your position. If Bayless wasn't the answer and we aren't contending next season with the likes of the Celts, Lakers, Spurs, etc, I think rolling the dice on a 23 year old point guard would have been the best move. He wouldn't have cost more than Miller I don't think.

Two similar moves by teams in the WC, just in terms of addition (forgetting what these teams gave up):

    -Kidd in Dallas.
    -Billups in Denver.

If Miller in POR has anywhere near an impact Billups had in DEN last year, we're looking at WCFs easy.

    Re: BREAKING NEWS

My gut feeling is that they would have gone for some kind of a Hinrich deal if Greg did not seem light on his feet and ready to inflict pain on the opposition. The Bayless thing means nothing - they might be ready to give up on him - or not - I have no clue - but the reason they went for someone like Miller over someone like Hinrich, I think, is because they think Oden can become that 3rd wheel on offense we are missing.

    Re: BREAKING NEWS

I gave my opinion, just like everybody else does. I didn't post 67 ridiculous trade proposals involving players that had not even been previously mentioned in the thread. Is there a reason you are addressing me in a personal manner? I don't recall posting anything about your posting habits.

    Re: BREAKING NEWS

Don't sign the deal with Miller yet. Have it essnetially agreed to, but don't finalize until after the S&T with Lee, and then it could be done.

Yes, because you throw off half the threads you post in by addressing others in a personal manner to complain about their posting styles. Sucks, doesn't it? Don't like his trade proposal, then dispute the trade proposal. It's a forum. People respond and post.

    Re: BREAKING NEWS

Can't do that, because Millsap accepted our offer. Utah has no choice but to either accept those terms and keep Millsap or allow Portland to keep Millsap under those same terms. The only way a S&T could happen if all three parties agreed to back out.

    Re: BREAKING NEWS

First stat I am going to use to convince myself Miller was a fantastic pickup:

Miller's percentage of shots that resulted in a foul call is 6 times that of Blake (13.4% versus 2.3%). Since I think foul shots are at least as important as 3-pointers, I have to say this alone makes it a good deal for Portland.

    Re: BREAKING NEWS

Who is going to go from Portland to NY to make the cap levels match? Lee would take at least the Blazers' entire cap space. That's a lot of money to pay a back-up PF, and why in the world would D'Antoni want Przy or Blake, neither of who thrive in an uptempo offense?

    Re: BREAKING NEWS

I think I am on record saying I would have loved Hedo for 3 years with 1 or 2 more as a team option. Miller at 2+1 is much better than Hedo at 4+1 or 5 - I agree about that.

    Re: BREAKING NEWS

Outlaw and Blake would be 7.6 million together, which would be a decent offer for Lee, unless he wants to play for the QO, adn then hope for the best next season. Could add a pick. Duhon also wasn't an uptempo PG, but then did well under D'Antoni. Who knows what Blake would look like there. And Outlaw could potentially fit in as well as scorer off the bench. Not saying it is likely at all, was just saying a S&T for him could still happen if we wanted one to. Not sure whether NY would want to, though. Sorry for throwin out ahypothetical trade. I'm sure you'll cry about it, but try not to.
