on Miller coming to town! http://blogs.hoopshype.com/blogs/narducci/2009/07/25/miller-a-solid-addition-in-portland/
I saw that earlier, I think it's a solid B+ signing, he may not be the guy that makes us an instant contender, but he shores up a spot of considerable weakness into a position of incredible strength. Roy/Miller/Rudy/Blake (or Bayless if you prefer) is a very nice backcourt rotation.
Another article about an actual player, that we actually acquired? Man you are taking away time from threads about imaginary trades!
I'd give the move an A-. To me, Sessions would have been an A+ and Millsap would have been an A. Turkoglu would have been a C/C+.
Miller will be an instant upgrade, where as Sessions would have taken a while in my opinion. I think the players will respect Andre because of his years served. And Pryz is probably like, "Thank God they finally brought in a vet!"
Are you kidding me? Forget Przy, Nate probably creamed in his drawers when he inked the contract. Call me crazy but I think Miller is a savvy enough, efficient enough and good enough that Nate will let him run the team at a slightly more uptempo pace ... at the very least I see more opportunities for easy buckets after stops. ps. HCP, do you have the scoop about why Antonio Harvey has been so down on Miller as a teammate and a person? He was throwing a lot of innuendo on a courtside episode a few weeks back.
No idea. I know Tone never played with him. Maybe he heard some stuff. I heard that the guy is real quiet and keeps to himself. I know that all these players have huge egos and some guys can take that as disrespect if you aren't all outgoing.
This part was interesting to me: Contradicts what some people were talking about him being a bad attitude/locker room guy. Then again, I don't know who those people were getting info from, or where this author got this from.
Another player that should benefit with Miller playing PG is Rudy. He's always moving without the ball and Miller will make sure he's rewarded for doing so.
That was my gut feeling. I just remember Tone saying he had talked to some people and they said "Miller is his own cat" and isn't as great of a locker room guy as you might think. Everything else I've ever heard reinforces that he's a solid, but very business-like guy. Sounds like he'll be Nate's favorite in no time.
Yeah, especially those back door cuts for dunks that he and Sergio hooked up on from time to time, Miller should be just as adept at throwing that lob as Sergio ever was.
He's a good help and team defender, but man-to-man he's a little below average. While defense is important, Nate will like him if takes care of the ball and makes the team run better.
Yeah, there was a quote from Iguodala yesterday, where he said something like "Bad news today, I find out that Dre is gone? Fuck!" Doesn't sound like his teammates couldn't wait to get rid of him.
Well since I don't think he was being disingenuous, I just thought it was pertinent to the discussion of Miller and how he fits in on this team from chemistry perspective. I don't think anybody here is saying Tone is the absolute authority on Andre Miller, but he does still have connections to guys in the league and might be privvy to chatter we never hear about.
Do you know if Harvey is tight with Alvin Gentry, or was with Dennis Johnson? They were the 2 guys who "coached" the Clips the year Miller was there....which also seems to be the year that is the source of all this negative talk.
