+1 I don't know why this is so hard to understand. Either people like being angry and negative, or they really have no sense of business. I guess it's possible both are true.
Thabeet was brutal in Summer League. His lack of foot speed and lateral quickness killed him. The last 4 games he had a total of one or two blocks!
But you didn't call Paul Allen cheap, you said he was "no different" than Michael Heisley. If he was really no different than Michael Heisley, wouldn't we have a similar roster to the one Heisley has assembled in Memphis - with similar results. The Roy and Aldridge contract negotiations aren't over. At this point Paul Allen hasn't lost anyone his coach and GM wanted to keep over money. He's about as far from Michael Heisley as an owner can get - and I think you know that. Because we are all fans of Roy and Aldridge, people in this forum have suddenly painted Paul Allen as the bad guy, as a cheap owner who cares more about profits than winning. I find that absolutely laughable and calling Allen "no different" than Michael Heisley ridiculous. Within the last month, he's offered Hedo over $50 million and Millsap $40 million - and you think he's "cheap" and "no different" than Michael Heisley. Yeah, right. BNM
Yes, it's so simple and black/white, isn't it. You are either angry or a fool (or both) if you don't like how the Roy contract negotations are going. Solid opinion. Very nuanced.
Really? Either (A), or (B), with (c) being "both". Either/or statements are about as black/white as one can get.
Really. Where you've gone wrong is saying that my statement was in regards to someone who "doesn't like how the negotiations are going." That statement is for people who fail to recognize the Blazers position in the negotiation progress. It would be like me looking at this only from the Blazers eyes, and not considering Roy. If that were the case, I would be up in arms with Portland offering him a full max extension before his current contract is up and waiting to the if the CBA changes. I expect Roy to get the full max contract, but I can't blame Portland for trying to get him for less. I almost get the impression some people here have never tried to buy a good or service for less than their perceived value of it.
What is the Blazers' position? I've seen many assumed positions, but nothing other than the team will have Roy/LMA for a "long time" in public. Well, duh. After all, I have no business sense.
Actually, yuyuza1 admitted that he cannot separate emotion from his opinion about the situation. While he's certainly entitled to his opinion, someone whose judgment is clouded by emotion is almost always less sound than someone whose vision is clear and objective. Ed O.
In matters of opinion, where we don't know what is really happening because we're not involved, so all we have is speculation, I offer that it doesn't matter either way. Emotional opinion, objective opinion, whatever. It's all based on guessing, so marginalizing someone for having a different opinion, no matter what it's based upon, is fruitless. It is divisive, and it tends to dumb down the conversation. Also, yuyuza saying he has emotions about it certainly doesn't make him angry or irrational. It means his opinion is formed in some part by emotion. That doesn't make it any less correct than an opinion based on so-called "objectivity", which is still founded on speculation.
As a fan of the team that is in danger of letting its two cornerstones go into restricted free agency, all the while pissing them off, my stance is perfectly valid. NBA players have egos. Giant ones that need to be stroked incessantly. I don't think you can simply treat it like a general business cut and dry.
Are you saying that Portland should never let these two become restricted FA's? If so, what is your reasoning. Since they would be restricted, we are still at no risk of losing them next summer.
He already answered the question in the post you quoted. Did you read the sentence below what you bolded?
What IF both of them are so pissed off to the extent that both take one year Qualifying Offers only to become unrestricted the next year?
That won't happen though. Posters here say it's unlikely because of the lock-out that is being assumed. Your opinion is wrong.
You seem to adopt the philosophy that we all have free speech to give our opinions, but no one has the freedom of speech to criticize an opinion. That seems odd. Why shouldn't posters criticize yuyuza's or your opinion, if they disagree with it?
Why shouldn't other posters criticize the criticisms, especially when they are clearly patronizing the original poster?
Opinions can be perfectly valid and much more likely incorrect than other perfectly valid opinions. I am being objective. I am ignoring MY emotions and looking at both side of the coin. You are pissed and emotional and cannot be objective. I believe, therefore, that between our two valid opinions, that mine is much more likely to be correct. Ed O.
