Yeah, because I know I'd be bitter if my employer gave me a guaranteed contract for the maximum allowable salary.

Geez people, he got a max contract extension. What's there to be bitter about? It's not like he was standing in the unemployment line not knowing if he was going to be able to put food on the table or meet this month's rent payment.

All this means is that Aldridge is simmering and will probably not sign this off-season, take the qualifying offer next season and then explore the free agent market in 2011.

Thanks a lot, Pritchard. Your ego drove you to sign Roy which will cause Aldridge to want money. :(

    Negotiations?

He got a full max deal, what was there to negotiate?

No, I'm pretty sure the Blazers just had to slide him a near-blank piece of paper that read "Max Contract" on the top, with an 'X' at the bottom for Roy to sign his signature. Probably handwritten. The whole thing shouldn't have taken over five seconds.

He wanted a player option on the fifth year, which is a benefit to him and a detriment to the team. If this extension doesn't have that player option, then that's what the negotiations yielded for Portland.

There is Aldridge's deal to negotiate. Give Roy what he wants without negotiating and you have less bargaining power with LMA.

    LOL

Actually, Aldridge wants 70 million for 5 years. That seems in line with what Portland was thinking as well.

At 12.5% raises, the Blazers could start his salary under 10 and get there I think.

Serious? Do I really have to spell out the word "sarcasm" for you? How could you possibly think I was serious?

True sports fan. Never in a million years will we ever admit we were wrong. We can spin it for days.

First of all, there is no owning of anyone. Most thought it would get done, and some thougt it was insane that it wasn't done right away. Roy is a top 10 player in the league, and despite what some say, there was nothing to negotiate. You keep those players as long as they want to stay on your team.

Having it take this long might have cost us Hedo. Like him or not, it was KP's first choice, and Roy and Aldridge both would have helped recruit him had they been signed, or had negotiations went well enough prior to the signing period.

Aldridge taking this long is understandable. Roy taking this long was dumb.

    Spin. LOL.

You know very well that Roy was not a factor here. Although maybe LaMarcus could have taken Mrs. Turk out for a ride through the city.
