I am also on board with the site's rules. I prefer laxer standards than stricter ones, philosophically. I think conversation flows fine, here. There have been posters banned when they were hateful, attacked posters directly or were disruptive. So it's not anarchy. But people are allowed to be unpopular...they have that "right" (per the rules) up to the point that they're disrupting the forum (making it difficult or impossible to talk civilly, in the judgment of the moderators). Saying non-personally-directed things that annoy people from time to time is within the rules, as it is in real life.
You know, you guys could all use a happy fun ball! http://www.nbc.com/Saturday_Night_Live/video/clips/happy-fun-ball/229058/ That will cheer you all up!
A couple of people have posted recently a firefox plugin that allow you to truly ignore a poster - you don't see their threads, you don't see when people quote them, etc. For those who are bothered by one or more posters here, I strongly recommend trying that out. The rules here allow people to say whatever they like, as long as it isn't disruptive, a personal attack, or racist/sexist/etc. I think there are plenty of discussions on here, considering it is the dog days of August. We might have to discuss Von Wafer going to Greece, but at least it is something about basketball. And of course the OT topics are available 365 days a year. barfo
I'm not the kind of person to bitch! As you all know I am the first person on here to crack jokes and have fun, BUT, there's a point where some stuff on here just kills the momentum! Every now and then someone shows up and starts this shit then disappears. I love this site, I just don't like seeing it like this!
I agree. The mods do an excellent job of enforcing the rules and merging threads as quickly as possible. However, when someone is constantly creating thread after thread about the same topics, fully knowing there is another thread out there, that's disrupting the flow of the board. Doing something that requires mods to make an action on a semi-daily basis should result in some action being taken against the poster.
It fuckin baffles me that the mods won't make one "exception" to normally lenient rules and ban a certain poster who everyone hates.
I just said essentially the same thing to a mod on a PM. There is a difference between real debate and debate created because someone wants to piss people off and just be a sh** stirrer. No fun, that. That's one reason I've stopped posting. And its August.
Perhaps you guys are accomplishing what you ultimately want through a bit of peer pressure and reason. I assume you're talking about a certain poster whose recent threads are: "Who loves entourage?" (Blazers OT) "OT: When healthy, D Wade is the best player in the NBA" "Did any of you play college sports?" (Blazers OT) "Gods brother is a beast at arkansaw"
Or, you could have your own mental ignore button. There are posters to whom I just don't bother replying. They're not interested in real discussion, so when I see their moniker or avatar I just go to the next post. And as hard as it is for me to believe, I have the sneaking suspicion some people do that with me.
Is there anything keeping posters here from creating/administrating their own Blazer-themed board to compete with this board? I'm just happy to have this place to get Blazer news, and if I have to sift through post after post complaining about other posts, I consider it a very minor thing. As a veteran of Blazer boards for more than a decade, and also some other boards, I feel this place is about as good as it gets.
