ok so we can either take the best player of all time MJ, or the 2nd best SG of all time, or a top C of all time.. then Chemistry isnt necessary. Gotcha

I'm not under it. I just laugh at the examples you are using.

His examples aren't silly. All your responses essentially say is that great teams need great talent. That's...obvious. ;) The point is that if you have great talent, chemistry isn't necessarily a major impact. Thomas was a great player, but I wouldn't say he was better than Roy. Those Pistons teams were hardly otherworldly in terms of talent. The question should be whether Portland has enough talent to win titles, not whether they have enough "chemistry," IMO.

Clearly, all those players are better than anyone Portland has, but I'm not sure that makes them invalid examples. Those teams tried to maximize talent and didn't worry about camaraderie...and the results were accumulating more talent (at least in their best two players) than Portland has. I think Portland should be doing the same, even if they don't have a Jordan or Shaq. It's been said before, but I think it's true: winning creates (perceived) chemistry, (perceived) chemistry doesn't create winning.

fair enough. But it could also be said, that a lot can be overcome when you have the dominant talents like Jordan, Kobe and MJ.

    FAIL!!! LOL

That has nothing to do with "chemistry." If those players were fighting each other on the court, competing for touches and glory on the court, and bickering with each other on the court, they'd have achieved nothing.

Chemistry has nothing do to with whether those players liked to swap spit off the court. It has to do simply with if they mesh on the court. And they did.

If you are basing your position on some other definition of chemistry, then, whatever.

KP just wants to avoid jail Blazer days, and adding Powe half way through the season would definently not be a issue in that department. But I say before we make a crazy move and jepordize overall talent like getting rid of outlaw before the season to get our "overrated" need for a backup PF, we should let Pendergraph and Cunningham get some pt.

Well, I think your philosophy and idea will win out. KP is all about organically growing this thing out. More than likely, he will ride the shoulders of Pendergraph and Cunningham. If they aren't ready, well I guess our Portland Trail Blazers aren't ready.

For the record, I don't agree with this approach. The window is open right now. And while it is, I think you need do everything in your power to make sure this team has what it needs to get the job done.

I don't think Pendergraph or Cunnigham are prepared to do the things, this team will need to them to do or need them to be in the playoffs.

Then again. I could be wrong.

Chemistry is massively overrated, and I think that OMG's original point--that KP hasn't made many, if any, "small" moves that have paid off on the court--is a pretty good one. The deals that Cake listed are actually pretty good evidence of that... Wafer and Ike are the two "best" players in that list and neither of them are still here.

With that being said? Time is on the side of the Blazers. It's still a very very young roster and I am sure that if/when the right deals come along, KP will pull the trigger.
