Jaynes already hit a home run when he came up with the idea to have the Schonz broadcast one last game when the Blazers play in the MC. Now he wants to bring in Dr Jack and have him coach the team for a little while during the same game. Sounds like a great idea to me! Link to article here
Sounds like a great idea I'm sure everyone on the team can learn something from the great man including Nate, Roy and Oden.
It would be a fun idea I think. It's a pre-season game, and it's not like Dr Jack wouldn't be able to guide Nate's complex offense.
I can't wait for the Canzano take if this does not happen. He will be talking till the cows come home about how the Blazers destroyed the legacy.
Unfortunately, I believe this to be the absolute truth. Canzano will find something that the Blazers did wrong about this "legacy celebration" night and harp about it for months.
I would love this to happen. Jack Ramsey is by far my favorite Blazer coach of all time. I just loved the way he coached and his attitude. It would bring back great memories for me.
Fun idea, but I'm sure there are restrictions on this sort of thing. Seems to me there would be legal reasons why an unpaid "contractor" couldn't "coach for a little bit." Also, I believe that Dr. Jack is a paid employee of ESPN (does their radio broadcasts occasionally), so I would bet there is a conflict there somewhere.
I could see Stern objecting during the playoffs but this is just a pre-season game. I'm sure he'd sign off on it.
Someone much smarter than me thought of a really good idea I think Instead of Jack Ramsay patroling the sidelines, have Nate wear a replica Ramsay outfit. Nate in Plaid pants and an ugly jacket would be awesome.
Jaynes' next idea will be that the Oregonian should hire back its former employee to cover the game. barfo
David Kahn? He was a better columnist than Canzano but I don't think I want another team's GM interacting with our players.
When was David Kahn working for the O? I don't remember him, so I'm guessing it was when I was living out of state. barfo
