Exactly. And I agree that there's a very good chance that Joel leaves us via free agency. I just can't see him spending his best days on our bench behind Greg.
GS buries Turiaf on the bench. What big outside of Biedrens do they need for their style of offense and defense?
I have no problem with a guy who jumps into the stands and gets into a brawl with fans of an opposing team. I have no problem with getting into an argument with several patrons at a strip club, getting punched by one of the patrons, and firing several gunshots from a 9-mm pistol in "self defense". But the dude pouts. I hate that. Once a complainer always a complainer. I don't trust him.
I like how SJ would project on the court with this club. He can handle the ball + create for others, is a solid defender, and seems to have excellent BBIQ. But just maybe do you think Canzano and the bedwetting Blazer fans sect might get a little insufferable? http://images.google.com/imgres?img...+jackson&hl=en&client=safari&rls=en&sa=N&um=1 STOMP
That really is the tossup. I really don't think I want to hear all the Jail Blazer bullshit that would go with acquiring Jackson.
These are the salaries owed to Jackson: $7,650,000 $8,450,000 $9,260,000 $10,060,000 The contract is a little high and long for his talent/maturity level. I think I'd pass on Jackson. He's better than Batum and Webster today, but I'd be too worried about the chemistry with him on board for 4 more years.
Sadly, I have to agree. I grew up in Portland, and still love many things about the town......but the self-rightous-busybody factor is off the charts.
So what else is new? In every city he's coached, Don Nelson overachieves first year and everyone sings his praises. Team falls back year 2 but is still pretty decent and fun to watch. Starts to suck year 3. By year 4 the players are rebelling. Sometimes year 3 and year 4 are combined. Talk about an over-rated coach. But I don't blame Warriors fans for being PO'd. They did a huge publicity campaign around Jackson. Remember those "where amazing happens" ads every team did? Theirs featured "Where second chances happen". They offered him a huge extension as a reward/inducement. And of course it does not make sense for him to say he wants a ring and therefore wants to go to the Knicks. Even the three Texas teams are a reach - the Spurs may have one more run in them but Houston and Dallas are not likely to win titles in the next couple of years. BTW, Stomp, off the subject, did you get the tix I sent?
How would we know? Dude hasn't played committed defense since he was a Spur. His advanced stats the last few years show him to be a poor defender. We could assume he would be a great defender once again, but I would rather not. I would much rather have Gerald Wallace at the wing for the same kind of money, if we are making some sort of trade. It is easier to trade with an Eastern Conference team anyhow.
teams pack it in on us all game with a lineup like that. Miller and our SF.. at least one has to be able to keep defenses honest.
Jack's defense took a big hit last season as he was among the league leaders in minutes per game and basically was responsible for being the leading scorer, leading assist man, primary pick and roll player, defend the other team's best perimeter player, etc. It was a lot better when Baron was around and controlling most of the offensive duties so Jack's legs lasted a lot longer and he could commit to defense more. When hes not completely worn out the dude is a really solid defender and hes quite versatile. Dude can lock up nearly any perimeter player and hes even pretty money defending any PF who weighs about 240 lbs or less.
I'd much rather have Wallace too, has he asked out of his contract? Even if he did, I'd guess the price would be a lot steeper. As far as judging SJackson being a good defender, thats based mostly on my opinion. I do live in the Bay Area and watch more W's games then any other team besides the Blazers. I'm not sure what the advanced stats say, but I do know that he draws the tougher wing assignment every single night. I don't think he'll end up a Blazer for reasons I already stated plus I'm quite happy with Portland's lineup already, so really whatever... STOMP
A prominent coach once said, "If one player can negatively affect team chemistry, it wasn't that good to begin with." My gut instinct tells me that Jackson wouldn't be worth the potential (side-shows) risk, but dude definitely knows how to ball. Would he be worth Outlaw and Bayless?
I have no interest. He's like a slightly older, slightly cheaper Hedo... with a bad attitude. We don't need another guy that handles the ball a lot and isn't a particularly good perimeter shooter. Ed O.
