not a ppr leauge.... RD and WR 1pt 10 yard 6 pt TD QB 4pt a TD 1pt 25 yards I was looking at the matchups for week 15 and 16 and Tomlinson has the best matchups between possible #2 picks...Cin at home then on road at Tenn Forte has BAL to face in week 16 Maybe I should play it safe with LT?
i would take tomlinson with the #2 pick. i think he's the 2nd best running back. but i wouldn't consider on the road against tennessee to be a good matchup for a running back. it's really up to you. i'd say take whoever you feel the best about between LT, MJD, forte, and turner. any of the four is probably a fine pick at that point and not something that will kill your team unless you get unlucky with an injury. just take whoever you want the most.
I agree...but looking at the other backs he has one of the best playoff schedule. Cinn to get into the playoffs But shit...how much will Sproles take away even when LT is healthy?!?
30 years old with a solid RB behind him . . . I don't think LT will light it up this year. No RB has consistently dominated like Tomlinson has since his rookie year 2001. But in 2008, it seemed like LT’s engine was being tested to its limits. After 5 seasons of averaging over 4.3 yards per carry, LT’s YPC dropped to 3.8 -- the lowest of his career if you don’t include his rookie season. HC Norv Turner recognized the wheels falling off his stud RB and limited Tomlinson’s carries to 292, marking the first time he has ever carried the ball less than 300 times in a season With your point system, it's got to be MJD (or maybe Forte) with the #2.
I think Turner is a no brainer at 2. Yeah he had a lot of carries last year but having played so little before has kept him fresh. Plus there is nobody else on the team that's going to vulture his goal-line carries. That guy who wrote that article is an idiot. He would take 30 year old aging Portis and Frank Gore who has been declining since his breakout year in 2006 over Forte and Turner. If you're in a PPR league Forte would be better than Turner for number 2, since he's such a good reciever out of the backfield.
another thing that wasnt in the article, with how hit and miss Turner was, I think I read somewhere about how most all of his HUGE games were against teams that were in the bottom 5 in Rush defense last year, and are all teams that arent on the Falcons schedule this year. No link though sorry.
I'd have to go with MJD. I used to have stats to back this up, but my draft is over with so fuck it. I had #1 pick in the s2 fantasy draft anyway. Anyway, he actually have a yahoo pick'em league, join! http://football.fantasysports.yahoo.com/pickem/30171 Group ID#: 30171 Group Password whoisshooter
Why is that? There is no proof that MJD will be able to handle a number 1 type workload, let alone have a good year at it. Forte has proved that and now has a quarterback to open things up for him a little. None of those picks are more justifiable than Turner who last year outscored even Peterson. I don't see any reason to see a big drop-off especially with all the goal-line carries Turner looks to get in 09. 1. Peterson 2. Turner 3. Forte 4. MJD
Their Strength of Schedules this year... (lower number means easier for them) Peterson 2 Turner 32 Forte 18 MJD 13 LT 3 Thats a big deal IMO...thoughts? In case anybody didnt see it Im not in a PPR league
LOL that was me... It's because you're a laker fan! Or it's because the light turned on for him. wtf. 1. Adrian Peterson 2. Michael Turner 3. Maurice Jones-Drew 4. Matt Forte 5. Tom Brady
And my thoughts are... LDT gets to face Oakland, Denver, and KC twice each... but Sproles is a more explosive player these days and Rivers/Gates/Jackson/Chambers has quietly become one of the best passing corps in the league.
New Orleans and Tampa Bay are in their division and were ranked #1 and #3 in rush defense last year and that didn't seem to matter. They also play Carolina twice(who ranked 26th in rush defense), New England once(t28th), Giants(24th), Bears(19th), and Redskins(15th) this year. With the passing game to open things up there aren't going to be many teams that are going to slow down their run game. And like I said there is nobody that will be vulturing Turner's goal line carries.
1 - A.Peterson (RB) 2 - M.Turner (RB) 3 - M.Jones Drew (RB) 4 - M.Forte (RB) 5 - L.Tomlinson (RB) 6 - S.Jackson (RB) 7 - L.Fitzgerald (WR) 8 - D.Williams (RB) 9 - C.Johnson (RB) 10 - A.Johnson (WR) Guys I want after the first few rounds: R.Rice (RB) could be this years M.Forte B.Wells (RB) kicked ass in his first pre-season game E.Royal (WR) Denvers #1 guy with mad man Marshall out. L.McCoy (RB) can Westbrook stay healthy? I doubt it. D.Brown (RB) Addai has sucked, Brown should see a solid # of carries. J.Carlson (TE) will be a top 5 TE and you can get him in the late rounds J.Davis (RB) wouldnt be surprised to see him take over for Jamal Lewis by week 4. T.Edwards (QB) T.Owens and L.Evans... enough said. Great late QB pick. Guys I am avoiding at all cost: B.Westrbrook (RB) W.Welker (WR) R.Williams (WR) W.Parker (RB) R.Bush (RB) T.Romo (QB) B.Edwards (WR) J.Stewart (RB) L.White (RB) J.Lewis (RB) M.Cassel (QB) K.Orton (QB)
Thats kinda my point though, I'm not saying Turner is garbage, he is just too hit and miss for a #2 pick IMO. his HUGE games which gave him the points lead over AP, came against the likes of Detroit, St Louis, Carolina, Kansas City, and a pretty game against Oakland and Denver. he had decent lines against Tampa and NO and god awful lines against Chicago and Philly. And Turner had that passing game last year, to help open things up. To me I guess, actually ADDING a passing game to help someone line Forte, would be a much better and safer pick IMO, but we'll see soon enough eh? thank goodness for Football season!
