Isaiah Rider wants back into the NBA. Rider -- now 38 -- the 1994 Slam Dunk champ, who last played for the Nuggets in 2001-02 is hoping to play again in the NBA reports the Minneapolis Star-Tribune. Rider's agent Joe Lee said Rider has been staying in shape by playing ball with college students near his home in Phoenix. The Star-Tribune continues: "The New Jersey Nets are considering inviting Rider to preseason camp, Lee said, even though that team said it doesn't see Rider competing for a roster spot. "'And what about the Timberwolves? 'He'd go in a heartbeat," Lee said. 'He's humbled now ... he's matured.'" If the NBA doesn't work out for him, Rider is waiting to hear from an unnamed overseas team and has a standing offer from the North Texas Fresh of the American Basketball Association. So Rider has been playing pickup games for the last 7 years??? Why didn't he try to stage this comeback, say, about 6 years ago? That would have made sense. This doesn't.
He just recently got convicted of the charges and as part of the sentence the judge ordered him to find full time employment.
