So I'm weakening. I love my DirectTV, but.... let's face it, CSNW is never gonna be on there. And all 82 Blazer games are in HD this year.... but only for Comcast subscribers. *sigh* Maybe time to do a deal with the Devil? Comcast is throwing this offer at me: Digital Preferred with an HD-DVR and a second HD Tuner Box for $54.94+taxes and fees for 12 months. After that it jumps to $98.89+taxes and fees. They are also telling me there's a $29.99 installation fee, but I bet if I bitch enough, they'll waive it. Should I do it? I'm fighting between sticking to my guns and not giving that fucking corporate bloodsucking parasite one red cent of my hard-earned cash, but I'm also a Blazer Fan that is itching to put these two big-assed HDTVs I own to work, and at least I'm lucky enough to BE in a Comcast-serviced area, a lot of people don't even have that luxury and opportunity. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGHHHH!!!!
I'd think less of you for giving in to The Man. I think the Blazers will have a deal to televise more games this year outside of the Comcast circle. If not, I'm perfectly happy with justin.tv or Wheelz/'Tone on the radio.
I wouldn't do it. Nice job holding to your guns thus far. Since you have held out thus far. See it out.
Can you get Verizon FiOS in your area? I have it and I feel good cause its not comcast but I have CSN
I pay money to Comcast, and it hasn't ruined my life. I actually rather enjoy watching the Blazers in HD. Yeah, it would be nice if the Volvo dealer down the street sold Porsches, but they don't. If I want to buy a Porsche, I have to go to the Porsche dealer. Yeah, maybe the Volvo dealer is marginally less sleazy than the Porsche dealer, but what's more important here? The car, or the dealer? barfo
The problem is Porsche has comparable competition. Comcast does not. They are basically monopolizing the idea.
I agree, I feel bad for those who don't have a choice. But this thread isn't about them, it's about those who do have the choice. barfo
Just get it. Yes its a deal with the devil but sometimes it feels good to be evil. You'll enjoy it all season long. Cancel it the day the season ends, they always have deals. It's like a health club, they want you to sign up on some plan where you forget about it and just have the money taken out every month; your too lazy to stop/cancel it. But if you play the game right you can get really cheap deals. There are corporations that pollute the environment, exploit the poor poverty ridden people in other countries, and bribe politicians. While I don't like the vibe from this Comcast fiasco, it's just simple crude business. I can't get too mad at a simple cable company when there are far bigger issues on this planet.
Nah. Other cable/satellite services are comparable to Comcast, just as other car companies are comparable to Porsche. You want one particular feature that Comcast has but other cable companies don't. You might just as easily lust after some feature on the latest Porsche that the competition doesn't offer in exactly the same fashion. barfo
monopolies are not illegal. When you use the monopoly to sell your other products that's illegal. For example if you say to the customer I want you to buy 1000 copies of Windows 7 but only if you buy 1000 copies of Windows Movie Maker that's called "tying" and illegal. Comcast does not do this. Basically what i'm saying is...sign with the devil!
Made the switch 2 months ago and it has been cool. I'm just glad my family can finally see the games.
I've cost Comcast over $10000 now and counting I'm like a reverse salesman for my family/friends (which I have a lot of on both fronts). Never thought I'd say this, but it's actually kinda fun
