"So it's about getting to the right place where I can play consistently or maybe play with the Blazers consistently. That's what I'm looking forward to, just getting a chance somewhere."

"Right now, I'm still with the Blazers and hopefully I will get more minutes and take advantage of the chance if I get one."

Definitely not sounding like a happy camper...

I'm not liking his statements all that much. I wonder how much of those are his agent in his ear.

I'd much prefer him to say things like, "I'm going to do my absolute best to make it impossible not to play me."

He's a third string PG, but I wouldn't call him nothing. We might be able to get a second round draft pick for him.

Outlaw said the same things his rookie year, just not publicly. Bayless was a guy who was projected to go in the top four. He is going to have an ego to match. If he's not even the backup, that is going to be extremely frustrating for the kid. I think it was pretty obvious that this kind of thing was going to happen with all the young talent we have on our roster. Expect to see even more if we don't have some kind of consolidation trade in the near future.

That's funny, although I thought he showed some promise, I mostly thought he showed he had a lot of game to work on and a long way to go to get there. Confidence is one thing; delusion another. A true NBA PG he's not (yet). I guess it's normal for adolescents to think they are on top of the world and know more than their elders. If he keeps working he'll get his chance soon enough, but maybe not soon enough for Mr. B-Rex. :)

He's in a bad spot -- no PT, no second contract (or at least a contract that's worth a damn). And btw, why do some people around here get so concerned because players speak their minds and don't dole out the horse-shit boilerplate all athletes are taught to spew whenever a reporter puts a mic in front of their face or whips out a tape recorder?

Maybe if he didn't look like crap running a team in summer league we wouldn't have had to go get Miller. But Bayless showed us all he is far from being a solid NBA PG, and we have zero room for him at SG.

I'm fine with him being disappointed, he should want to get minutes and currently he is projected to get none. If he can beat out Blake for backup 1 that would be awesome, but he couldn't beat out Sergio last year. This is a team that with a lucky break could be contending for a title, we don't have the luxury of throwing projects out on the floor and seeing what they can do.

I'd rather he said what he did than to have said that he'll work on his towel waving skills and learn to fit in.

Bayless is in such a tough situation.

Really he is a scoring guard. Problem is the Blazers have Roy and Rudy. You can't play Bayless behind those 2, he will never play. So you put him at PG where he has a chance to battle and get minutes. Welcome to the league kid, we need you to learn how to play NBA PG . . . Bayless is determined and talented, but that is tough challenge for any non true PG.

Bayless ideal situation is to be the second or third player off the bench, a scoring punch. Someone who will see a consitent 15 15-20 minutes a night and develop from there. I just don't see that happening with the Blazers . . . I love having the depth of a Bayless, hope he can stay patient.

I think it's funny how the players end up speaking their mind when they're over in Europe rather than using the standard "party line" comments that normally come out in local interviews...Sergio's trade demand, Rudy's anger over Hedo, now Bayless...

I don't think it's surprising at all that he feels that way, it's just a sign of a little immaturity to be speaking publicly to the media about it. He's talking as if the writing is on the wall that he's not going to be in Portland...

I think it is unlikely, but possible that the writing actually is on the wall, and that there is a "deal coming soon".

    :bored:

a young player wants minutes? No way... shocking development.

As it's been pointed out umpteen times, dude doesn't need to play like a traditional ball dominating PG to carve out a role with the Blazers. Roy, Rudy and Batum can all handle the ball a bit too so that isn't really a requirement. But if he's going to be a complimentary scoring weapon rather then a set up man, dude needs to greatly improve on the 26% from 3's he posted last season. Move that percentage up into the high 30s and Nate will find him PT.

To be fair, our summer league team (B-rex's surrounding cast) was the worst in years.

No player should be happy to not get playing time. What the hell do you expect. "Oh I love to be sitting on the bench and not getting any run?" I hope we never have a player who is that content.

It almost seems like the Bayless trade was a bad idea. He would have played very well in Indiana. We probably could have got more use out of Brandon Rush then we did Bayless.
